A big game now in the wider context of our season. If we can pull off an upset at Walsall, we could then get a lovely away day at a Premier League club in Round 3 - just what the real fans deserve. I am sure many of us want to chalk off the new White Hart Lane, for starters. Realistically, we are going to be stuck in this league for a long time now . Thats not negative, it’s just obvious. An FA Cup away day will count for a lot in January.
Sadly I think Walsall will dump us out. They are a good side chasing promotion. And if we did beat them and then draw any team from the top 2 divisions in the 3rd Round at home, we know what would happen. Silly posters Half & Half scarves A circus on Match day spoiling the event for most fans. Away at the Emirates, Etihad or Spurs? Fair enough
Any Premier League club in the 3rd round would be welcome, but this is one for our most loyal fans, who deserve a good day out. @ElfsborgAddick is a good judge on our fan’s numbers, I reckon we would easily take 7000-8000 on a Saturday afternoon for an attractive tie ?
As @Charles No Likes Hawtrey kindly says. Any Premier League club away we'd sell the allocation given. If we can take 9k to Manchester midweek, a weekend game will easily sell out.
@Dick Plumb1 Had a message today that the club would be willing to listen to offers for Aneke in January that was from a fan with decent info at times. The SMT must be even more delusional than we thought if they believe any bugger will pay to take him off our hands. From Aneke’s POV - the second highest earner at the club after GD - eight more months on £8k a week. All he needs do is sit tight.
I can’t believe that any Club in their right mind would pay money for him. If only Aneke was not chronically injury prone. He is 100 times the player that Ahadme is.
The SMT should have sent out a message last Summer about freeloaders & time wasters - paying him off. It was very doable. Instead we have had Season No.4 of Chuks Is Never Fit. He has had a fortune out of the club for very little in return , and it would send out a belated message if he had his contract terminated in January.
I have given up going to away games. It is hard enough to get the enthusiasm to go to home games. The non football is another reason not to go.
I felt the same way. It’s a reasonable journey, and I am always up for a Cup upset …but I can’t see us beating Walsall.
I hate Walsall for two reasons. One year, I think the 2011/12 season, I was in Birmingham for around 10 taking advantage of a cheap train ticket no doubt, they had a pitch inspection at 9.30 and it was passed fit but the f****** had another inspection at 12.30 and called it off!!!!!!!!!!!!! The weather had got better and there was no more snow or rain. I ended up at Villa v Blackburn in the FA Cup. The other reason, I got thrown out at half-time for putting a sticker on the tea bar wall. W****** the lot of 'em.
