Harsh. A victim of the system. Would like to go back to seeing Coyle just play like a normal RB should, within a more normal system. He's plenty good enough for this level. But that said, I do also now think it's time to see what Drameh can do at RB, and for us to play a LB at LB.
You could be excused for thinking Brucie was back - that was his tactic if we were losing- all the attackers on and the defendrrs off - of course he fid the opposite if we were winning, all the attackers off and pack the defence
Yes,it's extremely harsh on Coyle. He's probably our most consistent player and he's more than capable at this level. He's far from the cause of the problem and could play a pivotal part in the solution in trying to get us out of the hole we're currently in...
My twopenneth for what it’s worth, having calmed down a tad after last night. That was a long, hard, cold, watch, in an unpleasant toxic environment. I was quietly optimistic ahead of kick off, and thought we played well the first 15 mins, could ‘av/should ‘av scored as early as 2nd min, as we all know just not clinical at taking chances. Not that that would have won the game, let’s be honest, SW soaked up what we offered then unleashed breaking at pace and could have scored 4 or 5, Pandur saving our blushes with a couple of good saves, other shots across goal grazing the posts. We then seemed shocked into hesitancy to move forward for fear of their pacy counter attack. Kamara is very frustrating on that left side, can’t cross for a toffee, just moves up the wing, and lays ball back to another. I was puzzled by half time changes, Slater & Longman not coming out. Did anyone else see in first half the long injury stoppage, most of our players congregated to the dug out area for discussions, but not Slater, he cut a lone figure at opposite side of pitch? Wonder if anything was said at half time, hence not involved after the break. Second half, very frustrating, wouldn’t say there was a lack of effort, we looked like we were out of ideas, no spark, no belief, just like going through the motions, seems the players are stuck between a rock and a hard place, wanting to do better but no faith in what’s being asked to do. They looked mentally shot. The later subs were obviously a sign of desperation. I’ve never been a Tim fan, and don’t condone abuse of anyone, he just doesn’t help himself at times. I get there are other more serious things going on in the world, but in post match interview he was being asked for an assessment on his & his teams performance, and he makes flippant remarks. In any event, the toxic environment in my view is not repairable, and not good for anyones mental well-being, Tim, players, staff & supporters. Acun needs to take strong leadership and sort it.
You should start a thread called 'Tigress's Twopenneth'. You talk a lot more sense than many on here.
Nice guy but not a leader - in fact we don't have anyone of the Ashbee, Barmby mould and that's part of the problem - no one taking the game by the scruff of the neck, no one getting the team together and giving direction and inspiration - it's just not happening
just seen the highlights - Drameh didn't cover himself with glory for the second goal - trotted back and didn't look like he gave a **** - probably one of a growing list of players who don't want to be here
when we play Boro this weekend, I would play a back line of Giles --- Hughes --- Macca --- Drameh - drop Jones and Coyle who have been woeful recently - picking Giles will give him every opportunity to impress Boro that they should go for him in January - Drameh in his rightful position and hopefully Macca is keen and raring to go - it can't be worse than the present set up which clearly isn't working
His Uncle recently died and his funeral was today, my missus has just been at the same funeral as it was a member of Hull Trains staff.
What a ****ing mess. Another Manager undoubtedly will be brought in who will tell the players “forget everything you’ve been told, this is the way I want to you to play”. And after a further two international breaks, the team might start to gel.
Only if it's another coach who thinks they have a unique magic formula. Not if it's back to 'normal' football eg under Daws for a while
I wonder what people think normal football is though. Will they be annoyed if it involves playing out from the keeper for example, because most teams do these days.
I don't think the majority really care as long as they see some success. Unfortunately the home support haven't really seen it working on a consistent basis under Liam or Tim - really it was the away form that got us close to playoffs last season. Yeah there will be some who will howl with derision at any suggestion of a possession style, but they'll soon quieten down if they see some success from it.
Maybe beating a dead horse now but Christ the goals were terrible. The penalty comes from an almost identical corner to the one Luton scored from; near post delivery that glances off the top of Hughes' head as he gets too far underneath it causing chaos, albeit this time they didn't score immediately. Then when we got the ball back the pass to Slater while he wasn't expecting it reignited the danger and Pedro found himself in a crap situation. Second goal was even worse: ****e, lazy pass by Mehlem to a man clearly not in space to receive a ball from that distance, Palmer easily outfought for the loose ball and then there's just a huge lack of energy to get back and defend it, although to he honest I think most people would struggle to muster up the motivation at that stage of that performance because we were absolutely clearly never scoring.
