    I'm not blaming Perch in his entirety. However, the simple fact is that when he's in the defensive unit, it falls apart compared to our first-choice back 5. You can't deny that he heavily contributes to the problem as he's simply nowhere near as good as Saylor or Coloccini. In fact, he's very much a Championship player in my opinion.

    Perch might be okay as midfield cover (imo he looks more comfortable there) but he's simply not good enough as CB cover. The fact that he's instantly on the pitch when one of our first-choice CB's is out (even if Willo is injured) is shocking. He was fortunate he mostly had to deal with two out-of-form strikers in Drogba and Torres. If he was up against a more in-form striker he would have been ****ed all over the pitch.

    Why are people getting so touchy over this? Perch is ****e no question but he had, probably, his best game in the shirt today. 1 point out of these last 3 games is a point more than many people had us down for and with an "easy" run, in comparison, coming up I don't see the need to be blasting fringe players for our loss at one of the best clubs in the country and Europe.

    Well I blame the ref and Pardew for rating Perch ahead of Santon and taking off benny rather than Obertan.

    No one is blasting him for anything. I just thought it was an interesting point that when he plays CB, no matter who the opposition is (from the Championship to Champions League) we concede more than 3 goals. Take it as you wish, but I just thought it was interesting enough to share.

    Colo should be ok for next week, if not definitely the game after that.

    We didn't concede more than 3 today.

    Against Blackburn our attacking players were crap to, not managing one shot on target till 90mins+. Guess that is Perch's fault.

    FFS we have an excellent defender that's been playing at the highest level against the likes of Ronaldo and done well yet were playing James over him. Sorry but it's ridiculous.

    Oh yeah, you're right. It's just 3. That makes it ok then. <doh>

    What's ridiculous is people like you wanting him to play here, there and everywhere. Pardew sees him as a fullback and that's the end of it.

    In fairness, the back 4 was atrocious when we conceded the last two (Raylor-Perch-Simpson-Obertan), if Taylor had stayed on I dont think they would have scored those goals.

    Perch isn't a CB, we have a defensive crisis and he plays CB for Italy U21S and has done at Inter Milan. Don't see why it's ridiculous I suggest he plays there with Colo or if worst comes to worst Perch or Kadar. Whats your solution ? given I don't like your tone I'm hoping it's a good one????

    Has it ever occured to you that Alan Pardew:

    a. knows more about football than you do;

    b. has actually seen Santon play in training, which you haven't;

    c. has got more out of the squad this season than any of us, including you, could have done ?

    I apprecite that when you're usually right abut most things you will feel in a psotion to give advice to anyone, but perhaps in this situation you really don't know as much as the man amking the decsions.

    Just a thought

    Exactky he's ****ing ****. I also would sugge Pardew is off his ****ing head not playing Ben Arfa over Obertan or Ameobi.

    Who the **** would you play at fullback? Santon's been the best of them all today, but only because he's been able to get forward!
