As you conveniently didn’t answer my question, reform have 5 MP’s , rumour has it their next meeting will be held in a phone box edit With room to spare
An interesting article, especially the partshowing Nordic countries are the happiest, despite being more heavily taxed, but with essentially a more community based approach, rather than the individualistic one we have. https://apple.news/A438K3CK-SpCSiOCpnuk94Q
Yes I am aware that the Labour party won the election. You appear unaware that our democratic system has a mechanism that allows the populace to petition the Government and Parliament. The individual, and those who supported the petition are exercising a democratic right. The petition is not about the last lot, its about the current government and a Government that has not kept its promises. Far reaching economic measures that are included in budget were not part of the Labour parties election manifesto. In an earlier post you make a odd statement about the lack of a care system. We have a care system, and I and around 1.4million work in social care. The shocking increase in NIC applied to the 1.4 million will drain money out of social care, and the short fall over years will be billions. Billions being taken out of the care sector will have a significant impact on staffing levels, and the quality of care provided. Harming the care sector, draining resource, making people suffer was not part of the Governments fully costed manifesto, the Labour party promised something different. The petition in a manner calls out this government for not keeping its promises using a democratic tool. Sweden does not have an inheritance tax, and do not have taxes on estates.
If you read my post you will see I acknowledged there is a mechanism as you described, so I’m not sure what your first paragraph is all about. I’m also aware the petition is about this government. I merely pointed out not keeping promises or abiding by manifestos isn’t a new phenomenon, hence my reference to “ oven ready deal “, a major element of Bo Jo’s manifesto promises. in terms of the care sector and the NHS I have been if the opinion for years that it needs to be linked to the care sector and work in tandem, standards and salaries etc needs to be looked at and integrated, care workers should be paid much more, be recognised, and have proper career progression. I bow to your knowledge as someone within the sector on how this should be achieved. I’m of the opinion it should be across party, not party political If as you say it calls this out then I applaud it, but I don’t see particularly that it does. I did see the wording, but don’t have it to hand, but the general thrust is there should be another election as this government has gone back on its promises. I consider this as nonsense for the reasons given, I’ve no issue using legitimate mechanisms to highlight individual issues, but not trying to call for another election. edit Copied from RR’s original post; PetitionCall a General Election I would like there to be another General Election. I believe the current Labour Government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead up to the last election.
Did I read somewhere there was a similar petition calling for a second BREXIT referendum with over 6 million signatories, that didn’t work either.
National insurance hike threatens 'collapse' of adult social care | Nursing Times This is the impact of what Labour are doing. Labour have shown a contemptible disregard for the social care sector, a disregard for the damage taking resources away from social care will do. Essential care for thousands of vulnerable will be cut, suffering will be increased, vulnerable people will die. The Labour party has reneged on its promises in its manifesto.
Then use the mechanism to highlight the specific issue relating to the care sector. You are either missing my point or ignoring it. This present vote isn’t about the care sector Copied from RR’s original post; PetitionCall a GeneralElection I would like there to be another General Election. I believe the current Labour Government havegone back on the promises they laid out in thelead up to the last election. Do you see any mention of the care sector? Set one up about the care sector alone and I might even sign it myself
dont know where Siam is and it certainly aint in South Bristol but thats nada to do with labour taxing more to fund services!! hows this national insurance thing work? Reeves is giving the care sector 600m but taking more out. thats madness!! any of this targeting care and pensioners winter fuel allowance stuff in the budget?? Nooo but your getting vexed about some pub landlord doing a petition as is his right but its radio silence on labour lies!!
At PMQ'S Kemi missed a real wet fish to slap across a grinning robotic face when 2 TIER Harmer replied to to the question regarding the Q on the petition............ he replied there was another petition on July 4th Cheshire grin ear to ear...... Kemi should have replied " yes there was, but I keep reminding myself that the current labour PM HAD LESS VOTES than Jeremy Corbyn when he lost the 2019 one !"
I’ve already explained my views on the care sector, not doing it all again read back through my recent posts, ditto the recent petition, also posted numerous times on my stance re winter fuel allowance, keep up!!
info on the petition shows the number of signatures of each of the 650 seats heres 2 as a taster ................... At the time of writing, the number of signatures for Sir Keir’s constituency was 2,114 and Ms Phillipson’s, 5,837. and goingup by the minute.............. [ theses were much earlier today am ]
youve been given a lesson on here monthly, been watching and your still swerving big time simple questions, labour manifesto promises one thing and then they do another. people voted for that and have been lied to. No problem with this petition hell two tier if hes in the country and not meeting big bizness chums getting freebies might have to do a turn in parliament and yes my promises mean **** but you suckers put me in here and ive got another four years six months to break some more thats democracy get over it you lost !!!
Humiliation for Keir Starmer as General Election debated just six months after Labour win https://www.express.co.uk/news/poli...debate-date-parliament-commons?utm_source=app
job done but any expecting of two tier to be honest has about as much chance as expecting a dog not to bark.
It’s like pissing in a gale. That petition will just waste a bit of time in the commons whilst formalities are observed to get rid. I’m not happy with the way things are going but it’s not the first time I’ve been disappointed with a political vote I’ve cast. There will be a chance for the country to choose again in 5 years.
Just shy of 3 million and apparently it is being debated in early jan 2025 -well done those that voted-he knows the country is well and truly unhappy with the clowns.
