Yeah decent shout. Only really big fee we paid was Philogene which I'm still convinced there was something funny going on but that's all.
I don't know anything about the owner outside of the club, so can't comment on that, but Walter certainly isn't the least of the problems.. repeatedly using a system that the players can't or won't play is the on pitch problem that can be changed immediately.
Doesn't have to be a fee involved to buy a player for there to be an agents fee though. If that's what they're splitting the. It could happen with any player
Yes it’s all our dreams come true: We’ve had Walterball Alpha. Last night was the release of Walterball Beta (almost perfect product). Hold on to your hat for the shortly to be released Gold Standard Walterball…… He considered registering the trade name Walterbollocks but wanted to better convey his exciting, often hairy football style so – Stand Back, he’s going to release his “Hairy Wollocks” Brand at the Boro game! Let’s hope his kids aren’t there!
That’s the concern I think. As you say with the previous feel good factor there were a lot of fans keen to put money into the club even though results weren’t suggesting we’d get promoted
Way too many opinions being made based on twitter rumours, that may or may not be true. Unless know something not in the public domain, the problem is very much on pitch
Is there a Venn diagram for people who think Walter shouldn't be abused, and people who think it was fine for Kamara to be abused at Norwich?
As you will know there will be patterns. Same agent being used for several transfers. Players being signed and not used or loaned out etc.
Agree with most of this, however regarding Longman and Kamara they were both played on the wrong side last night except, except for the very last part of the first half when they switched and looked FAR better, which, for a short time, made the whole team look better and more balanced. I thought that this had been an instruction from the manager, only to see Longman replaced by the ineffective, on the wing, Omur, and Kamara switched back to his ineffective left wing on the restart. So thinking about it now I can only surmise that the short period switch at the end of the half was solely down to the players, and that during the halftime team talk Walter let them know that he wasn’t happy about it. Did anyone else pick up on this, or am I wrong?
I think this is being overegged a bit; Vaughan was being admired by a lot of clubs higher up as he was playing men's football at a young age, like Sandat was. Players like that will always attract bigger clubs looking for a bargain because they play for clubs that won't charge the Earth to sign them. Bora was different, I think that was a case of taking him to look at for the U21s (which is odd given that his signing was made out to be a first team one) and then Fenerbahce wanted more than we thought they did. He's on loan in Turkey's fourth tier at the moment, so it's not as though he's making big strides. Celi was one of the best young players in Peru and got capped at a young age, so again, clubs were interested. I'm not saying that it's impossible that there's some shenanigans with agents going on, but the players mentioned all have different agents so to me it seems very unlikely and more a case of poor scouting/poor development.
I know, I was happy when I saw them finally switch sides, unfortunately it didn’t last but Longman kept holding his shoulder.
I wouldn't be surprised at dodgy dealings going on, you just picked an odd example. Vaughan was an Academy signing that went after a year, it's unlikely he generated barely anything in fees, including agents fees.
