Good save by Raya from Sporting's Danish midfielder (can't remember his name). Could have easily been a 2nd for Sporting.
Trincao's deflected shot spins up and almost goes in, but thankfully goes just over the bar. Need to stop giving them space to shoot.
5-1! Trossard! Great football, loads of space and Merino (I think it was) takes a stinging shot. Israel can't keep hold of it and Trossard heads home to make it 5.
FT. 5-1. Disappointing to concede the goal at the start of the second half, but otherwise a very, very, very impressive away performance by Arsenal. We were unplayable at times tonight. Let's not forget - Sporting haven't lost a game in any competition this season. Perfect record in the league, 3 wins and 1 draw in the CL (prior to this game) and recently qualified to the next round of the Portuguese cup. They'd also battered City 4-1 in their last European fixture. So they are no mugs. Yet we made absolute light work of them. Everyone was absolutely superb. Gyokeres is the hottest property in Europe right now, but - bar that chance in the 87th minute when he bested Kiwior and hit the post - Gabriel and Saliba totally locked him up. Tonight was the real Arsenal. This is what I want to see more of. We're perfectly capable of destroying anyone like this on our day, just need to show how good we are consistently. More of the same moving forward please, Arsenal.
With the way they're defending right now, getting a draw would be a miracle for them. I don't see how Liverpool don't absolutely slaughter them.
Didn't realise Sporting hadn't lost a home game for 18 months prior to yesterday - makes the win even more impressive. And I know people online are saying the loss of Amorim was a factor, but come on - it's not as if they're suddenly going to disintegrate and become a pub side simply because he left. Before our match, they'd won their last game 6-0 for crying out loud. This was a huge result and performance by Arsenal against the form team in Europe.
