I know but i'm not doing too well in the fantasy league and i'm trying to find someone/something to blame apart from myself!
I personally thought it was because you were swamped on the left hand side, reckon you missed Guiterrez more than Taylor/Coloccini.
Look at the newcastle XI and its pretty average, they been punching above their weight and its pretty obvious they can go on a winless run of 4-5 games at some stage and things will even out as the season goes on and they will fall behind the top 6.
We missed Gutierrez so much today, I definitely agree. By the time Colo went off for Perch our left side consisted of Perch, R.Taylor and Lovenkrands. Scary, really. Lovenkrands offers little if anything at all defensively, and Taylor clearly isn't up to it himself. Sturridge tore them all a new one. I expected Santon to come on at half time to be honest. So glad he's back next week. Although the CB issue is a bad one. Colo, S.Taylor, Williamson all out. Lovely
Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot. For what it's worth, I expect us to finish around 7th anyway No one says we're a top 6 team, nor does anyone expect us to finish there.
They got a point they didn't deserve last Weekend through a shocking decision so it's good to seem then being hard done by today. Swings and roundabouts.
Who does that leave you for the CB positions then, Perch and ??? Pretty bad situation to find yourselves in when you wanted to start picking up your momentum again for the Christmas period. The last thing you want in that period is to be missing your best players and having a squad devoid of confidence. Where's Tiote, is he still injured? I remember that he was apparently touch and go for the Blackburn CC game and he didn't even make the City/United/Chelsea games, seems pretty weird. What's the deal with Santon too, does Pardew just want to stick with the back four that Newcastle's success so far this season has been built on, which is fair enough, or is it just the fact he thinks Taylor/Simpson are better than him?
Some awful results today. Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and Utd all won. I got that horrible feeling we will drop points now.
Leaves us with Perch and our 5th choice, Kadar. Broke his leg last year, has become completely out of favour and is never ever mentioned by Pardew. Not sure what's happened there with him, he looked to be a decent prospect. Pardew knows something we don't, obviously. It's a terrible position to be in coming up to these games. Norwich, Swansea, Bolton, West Brom before we face you lot and the red Mancs again in January. Not being disrespectful to those teams, but the first 4 are teams we should definitely be looking to take maximum points off of and this CB issue looks to really hinder our chances. Tiote is still out injured as far as we know, it's his knee according to Pardew. There's a lot of conspiracy theories surrounding it, people saying that it's just like Carroll last season - mysteriously 'injured' just before January and then sold. I think that's bollocks, of course. I think he's just taking a lot longer than expected to get back to fitness - and since Guthrie has filled his role pretty well then we don't have to rush him and risk anything else. As for Santon, not sure what the crack is there. At first I think it was just "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Pardew didn't seem to want to change the back four at first, which is understandable. To be honest at first glance it looks like we bought him as a LB to replace Jose, but he isn't one, he's a RB naturally. I think we're waiting till Simpson gets injured/sold and then Santon will come in at RB and we'll buy a new LB (Pieters, Cissokho etc). I think Pardew wants to play him in his natural position straight off, rather than make him play LB and then switch him to RB. No excuses now though, he needs to replace R.Taylor, definitely.
