How can I say that? Because as I said in the post you've quoted we didn't play badly enough to deserve to concede 5 goals and we also must of had more than 2 shots because we scored, Holt's shot was saved and Bennett and Morrison also had other efforts not to mention Morrison nearly scored the 1 on 1.
Unless we got really lucky, we were only ever on a hiding to nothing today. To be honest, I'm just glad it's out of the way without it being a worse scoreline. I've absolutely no doubt that they'll dust themselves off, and be ready to go again. This game only really matters if they don't bounce back, everything we've seen of Lambert and his sqaud says they will. Onwards and upwards!
I thought you defended well and the plan nearly worked in the first half, i agree with one of the earlier posts that said you should have played like you did in the second half instead of leaving one man up front on his own, i wonder if we were playing next week again would Lambert set the team up in a more attacking formation ?
We were mugged today In all seriousness, i though we gave a good account of ourselves again, just a shame we ended up with a drubbing this time! Ah well, we will go again next week against the toon where hopefully they might be on the start of a fall from grace
After all the years we have been watching them from the middle of the table we can only hope and please log in to view this image
Machester City's squad is enough to give you nightmares. With the players they have there's not much you can do. Also, we did better than Manchester United!
Surely today was all about (an attempt at) damage limitation? Never were we going to take points from this, but at least it's one of our trickiest fixtures of the season over with - one that some of those mid/lower sides still have to address. If one or two younger players have learned from this 'pasting', it will have been worth it
I know none of us need reminding that Man City are a very, very good side, but incredibly that's the seventh time they've scored 4 or more this season, and the fourth time they've hit 5 or more!
1st half we played defensively and I might add, poorly and conceded 1 goal. 2nd half much better performance took the game to them a bit more and conceded 4 goals!!!! Yeah we could have played more expansively in the 1st half but would have probably ended up with a 7, 8 or 9 goal drubbing. Sorry but sometimes we have to accept we are not on the same planet as the big boys because today Man City were in control from start to finish and showed true class, which only mega bucks can buy. But we go again next week OTBC IMWT ILWHTB
Read ON TARGET. all together you had as many shots to their off target shots - 5. While the 16 is the amount of shots on TARGET. I ain't taking the piss because you got thumped, I just wrote my original post because of the "score isnt reflecting the game". ****ing moron.
disappointing performance today but i doubt anyone is particularly surprised by the score line. a shame we didn't have a real go as we did at old trafford, anfield and stamford bridge but to be fair, man city are in another stratosphere. easily the best team in the country and incredibly talented. champions elect in my, and indeed most peoples view. the important thing is that we bounce back as quickly as possible, starting next weekend at home to newcastle - who appear to have an injury worry in defence and have just gone off the boil a bit good luck to citeh for the rest of the season - not that i think you'll need any!
I thought you were a bit overawed by it all in the first half and the tactics were a bit naive but 2nd half you were much better.Dont understand the first half philosophy tbh as you've shown at old Trafford and Anfield that you belong in the division and the only way to play city is to get amongst us and interrupt the flow of possession. Not a game to be over concerned or analytical about though I suppose so it's a dust down and start again from next week. All the best for the remainder, hope you don't implode after Christmas
Had Steve Morison been a bit cuter in that first breakaway it could have been different.I'm not knocking him,he's been brilliant but can you imagine what Suarez would have done in the situation he found himself in?A penalty and 80 minutes against ten would have been rather nice. As for imploding after Christmas, well with teams beneath us who look awful that's not such a worry. If however I was looking over my shoulder at United I might be more worried.I have a feeling the derby at your place may be hugely significant. With your next two games against Chelsea and Arsenal and theirs against Wolves and QPR I wonder if that five point cushion will still be in place at Christmas.
newcastle were a little unlucky against chelsea having seen the highlights, they hit the woodwork 3 or 4 times. Shoala ameobi is bound to score against us. It will be a tough tough game, i agree they have gone off the boil a little though. We do seem give the top teams a bit too much respect in the last few games - re Arsenal and City - that might be more that the teams are getting more settled now we are a third of the season in, and we can't do what we did at OT and stamford Bridge. Let's get back on the boil ourselves!
