I've just checked, last week's £50k team won. And I'm also sure BCC's team won. Blimey, all these secret Chase watchers coming out of the woodwork!
I haven't watched it for a long time - I got watching Pointless and fine it far better, I do remember bummers team winning tho.
My wife said to me this morning "Did you even hear anything I just said?" Which I thought was a strange way to start a conversation.
It turns out this Jaguar thing isn't just a logo rebrand, they're actually scrapping everything they're doing and starting again, at a much more premium level. The new cars will be fully electric and will start with a GT for £100k (launching shortly), with an SUV following a year later. I'm intrigued to see what's coming next now, the logo and advert have certainly generated a lot of online noise, which I suspect was entirely intentional.
I think there's also a rebrand going on at land rover, pushing the names Defender, Discovery, Range Rover and moving away from maybe even dropping the land rover bit altogether.
Just read an interesting article about this car, it's a one-off concept car, built in Switzerland and shown at the 1956 Geneva Motor Show. The show was attended by Sir Alex Issigonis, possibly the inspiration for the Mini? please log in to view this image
They issued a statement this week - "We are not losing the Land Rover name; its spirit is—and will continue to be—a crucial part of our DNA," I agree with this summation from Forbes Magazine re the Jaguar relaunch - 'In the end, it will be all about the car that is released on 2nd December. With a price expected to be above £100,000 ($125,000), the new electric Jaguar will need to be very special indeed. But thanks to all the controversy around the branding video, the world is now watching. And that’s a stroke of genius'.
As many have written, they needed a rebrand and to focus on one end of the market. Get the Daily Mail readers to generate online noise about it by tying it in to 'woke'. Ive been driving around in a BYD sealion 7 this week, from the car pool. Shocking name, but drives well in the ice and snow... A lot packed into that car. Probably prefer it to the Tesla Y which is a bit old fashioned now at six years old
My Partners son was on the chase in about 2018. 3 of them won £5500 each. I loved the look he gave one of the other contestants when she ignored him, went for her answer and got it wrong.
