I worked in JJB from 96-98 so i'm interested to see what they have done with the place - the restoration looks superb.

That JJB shopfront sums up everything that's wrong in town centres ...

... Sunderland isn't my hometown but I'm so pleased about all this, the place deserves better.

Application by Grand Central to run more services from Sunderland to London with a stop at Seaham.

That's a random choice of stop tbf though, it's 1 stop down from Sunderland with regular Northern services to and from but they must find it feasible.

They've also promised to buy new trains to improve their performance with their recent application to extend their license to 2038. Might just be tempted to jump across to them, would reduce my commute time drastically :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Probably because Northern Trains are pap. Just goes to show if they see a need then Northern should too. However, their need maybe they can grab the East Durham crowd who travel to Durham to go to London and not to Sunderland to travel?

Is it not just talking about the new footbridge and not another one. I'll have to read it again just to make sure, I can only see a small footbridge between the stadium and the stables over the cobblestones. Why would they need one there, is it me just being me (stupid again).

Think there is going to be 2 new bridges, this is from the masterplan...

The big one is the one they are on with now and the smaller one is what that article is on about

Actually looking at the image, there are 2 new bridges over the river and one over land connecting the two housing developments

I know many people think I'm posting shyte about the Dell proposals but I had an entire afternoon answering questions I'm sure came from the 'Dell boys' representative regarding their feasibility studies. It was the result of a fluke occurrence during an interview me and Mrs Smug had for Ben Brown, a close friend of Glenn Fuhrman.

Among the things they discussed were the new club shop, resurrection of the club badge, turning Sheepfolds into an entertainment hub, improved Metro station/rail links, approach to the stadium, etc. I posted all that, here and on RTG, and was either believed by those who know me or hammered by the miserable cliques who think everyone's lives are as empty as theirs.

One thing I've only ever posted once was that they'd asked about the practicalities of running ferries from Tynemouth, Shields and Seaham to the Wear, under the Metro, to a lift and steps to the stadium. I thought it would be a wild idea and told them they should consider starting one off at the John Wesley Monument, on Newcastle quayside, for Sunderland and away fans coming off trains at Central Station, etc,

These weren't costed, or even practical, just ideas to make SAFC something different, special and innovative ...

... passenger boats with bars, lifts and easy access to the stadium would be absolutely mad and totally unique <laugh>

I've always wondered why Fulham didn't incorporate that into their new stand ... made for it.
