Swansea v Leeds Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 24 November 2024 Kick off - 3pm Following their desperately unlucky away defeat at Burnley, next up for Luke Williams’ Swansea squad is a tough looking home match against one of the Championship’s automatic promotion favourites, Leeds United. Two weeks ago, Burnley ended a four-game winless streak as Jay Rodriguez's stoppage-time penalty secured victory over the Swans. Veteran striker Rodriguez scored for the first time in 11 months as he sent Lawrence Vigouroux the wrong way from the spot. But the Swans were left unhappy over the award of the spot-kick, which was given for a Matt Grimes handball. There was no question that the ball hit Grimes' hand, which was raised as he went up for a header. But the Swans argued their captain could do nothing given that the ball was headed towards him from point-blank range by Rodriguez. Victory meant Burnley climb to fourth in the table, four points adrift of second-placed Sheffield United. The Swans’ first defeat in three games leaves them 11th, though Luke Williams will feel his team were worthy of a point. The previous day, Leeds regained the winning habit against Queens Park Rangers to move second in the table with a hard-fought three points. A first defeat in nine against Millwall the previous Wednesday had put a dent in Leeds’ promotion charge. But against struggling QPR, Jayden Bogle’s first-half strike and a second from former Swan Joel Piroe in stoppage time proved enough for Daniel Farke’s side to put themselves on the shoulder of leaders Sunderland. QPR fought hard in the face of relentless pressure from a dominant Leeds, who created a host of chances but struggled to convert until Piroe’s late nerve-settler. The Swans has played Leeds on 42 previous occasions, winning 12, losing 23 and drawing 7. In the corresponding fixture last season, Leeds ran out comfortable 4-0 winners: Looking ahead to Sunday, I can see nothing other than a Leeds win - but not as decisively as last season. I think that Leeds will win 0-2, and yes Piroe will be one of the scorers. Hope I’m wrong
John was a good friend of my late father - they served together for many years on the committee of the West Wales FA.
He refed a Senior League game I played in down Ashleigh Road. It was all about him he ruined the game.
Strange isn’t it how some people want it all to be about them. When I was in Uni, I was on the Athletic Union Exec. We invited Clive Thomas to speak - again he made it all about him and he had done no research whatsoever - he assumed we were all training to be teachers ….. That was a different College Clive ….
