I'm beginning to worry that he is another Maureen or Conte, just with a much better style of football. We haven't really seen anyone improve in a sustained way since he took over. His system is so demanding that it strikes me as needing players far better than the ones we have to make it truly effective. So identical problem to the other managers I've mentioned in that he probably needs to spend money we don't have in order to succeed.

Part of the issue is we have less tactical depth than we did last season

Deki moving into the centre means that Johnson has gone from the pacey option from the bench who lets us play far more directly to a starter, and if being pacey and direct isn't working what's the backup plan?

Similar can be said about the opposite flank too, as at the start of the season we had Perisic who could send laser-guided crosses to the far post, and later we loaned in Werner so we could overwhelm teams with two pacey, direct players marauding down the flanks - but this season the issue is that Werner may still be the pacey and direct option, but if we've had 45-60 minutes of pacey and direct play not working down the right flank does adding a second player with that profile on the left flank improve things?

I thought that the timing was extremely suspicious, but it appears that's on the club and the player.
A slow response lead to this dragged out spectacle and the late ban.
Let's just hope that they're consistent in the future and our players don't all start wearing Free Bentancur t-shirts.

Not questioning that there should be some punishment. However the punishment should be appropriate and consistent. Firstly as alluded to it's not clear who/why is responsible for the punishment, so even though he's banned he can still play Europa League games. But what is happening as a result of Fernandez behaviour? The FA say they are not responsible, but as of now it action has not been taken by any authority. Secondly I'm not sure how to equate this sort of ban with one for serious foul play. It seems it is possible to endanger an opponent with what is actually physical violence but receive lesser punishment. Incidentally, in order to get a seven match ban you would have to be sent off four times in a season. Additional game bans have previously been issued for particularly serious foul play (if you are Spurs player, not a Chelsea player doing the same thing), but does what Bentancur did equate to that?

Fernandez was on international duty, so it's the responsibility of FIFA and/or CONMEBOL.
Bentancur was with neither his club nor country, but it was during the regular season, so it's on the FA.

7 games does seem rather strong compared to Kudus committing 3 red card offences in about 10 seconds and getting 5.
It's rather easy to not be racist, though. Should be very avoidable.

Got no sympathy for Bentencur... should know better.
A Millwall fan and (I think an arsenal fan) were given life bans from their club's for making dvd chants/ comments aimed at at Son so in comparison he got off lightly.

I want him out because he has brought the club into disrepute.

As a pro he has impacted the club’s public image and has contravened the clubs values and code of conduct.

As well not available for seven games whilst on full pay.

    Out.

Anyone else think the club have missed a trick by not having Bentancur announce the logo change and how it’s easy to tell the difference <laugh>

“As a group, as a team at Tottenham, we’ve all drawn a line under [the incident] and moved on, but I think ultimately, it’s important that we realise that these kind of things need to be looked at with this kind of seriousness” - Ben Davies

We've appealed the length of the ban, claiming it's too much.

    Don't agree tbh

It's one game less than Suarez, whose offence was much worse imo in that the language was worse and he said it to Evra's face multiple times throughout a match.

Suarez was also only fined £40,000.

Not disputing Bentancur's punishment, but as usual there is zero consistency.

Should've had Son announce it with Bentancur in the background between the old and new logos, looking confused.
Apparently the minimum was six games and the maximum was twelve.
I struggle to see how it's more than the minimum, to be honest.
Bernardo Silva got one match for posting this ****:

The FA and Premier League should clarify their position and clearly set out their punishments.
Spurs should apologise to our fans for any offence caused and set our own obligations for our staff.

Yes, that is Roy Keane wearing a Spurs Christmas jumper, complete with a snowman doing the Klinsmann dive celebration. WTF?
Also featured, a twat in a hat.

He said so on a Christmas special last year, funnily enough.
"Spurs is my team. I played for Man Utd but Spurs are my team." Thus the anger.
