Forcing people to sit in Cold Houses by increasing fuel prices in our Country won't solve anything in Global terms. If the rest of the World doesn't give two hoots, how can our efforts prevail? I'm saving the planet every night by sitting with extra layers on in -6 temperatures but I'll claim most of it back at Daldowie Crematorium when they stick the oven on!!
It’s a highly misleading graph, the temperature readings, although debatable, aren’t the issue. Overlay evolutionary progress on it; there where no mammals on Earth for about 2/3rds of its span and Homo Sapiens start at the Y in Today. It tells us nothing about the increasing rate of global temperatures as a result of human activity. It’s garbage.
I disagree for a variety of reasons, and there are also a lot of questions relating to the information in the Grauniad article that seem to be simply taken at face value, and that's before getting over involved in the other graph posted.
We have the largest battery farm in Europe on our doorstep. It holds enough energy to power the Country for less than 20 seconds. The total global energy store for batteries is less than 2 hours. Every field covered in either them or windmills reduces food and energy security and puts bills up. Solar panels covered in snow on a windless day are not going to cut it. Yet were are expected to pay trillions for it.
tbh im sick of the uk most expensive bills, **** technology, **** public transport its just a big ****hole really
It depends on what you are aiming to achieve. The current model is quite clearly putting more and more people into financial and fuel poverty, while damaging food and energy security. No country can grow if they have high energy prices, as industry will just go elsewhere. Those places are not following the same suicidal path, so any reductions made here will be countred by emissions elsewhere we have little to no control over. As a brief summary, I'd suggest tightening up emissions on existing technologies and continue to use them in the short to medium to encourage economic growth, and use the income gained to invest in research including nuclear, where Rolls Royce are world leaders in small modular generators that other Countries are investing in. Whenever the doommongers claim a future loss of life, they are selective with where they start from, as they are with the temperature graphs. Their cost balance equations usually miss out the lives that have been saved and made better by fossil fuels, including a 90%+ reduction in deaths from natural events such as hurricanes etc. They also show a lack of due diligence when proposing eco schemes, which can often exacerbate other problems such as floods, fires etc. which they then try to blame on the climate rather than owning their errors.
That all makes theoretical sense on paper, but remember Fraizer Campbell could sign for Spurs on deadline day.
Nice, (oddly, TwoWrights tapping foot to Ian Dury's Sweet Gene Vincent, on loudly. Will you mourn my decline with some Thunderbird wine and a black handkerchief? ) The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I just wait for fashion to come around again. TwoWrights, just made a cuppa in the kitchen, came back in the living room and tried scrolling YouTube, no go. Memo to self, the remote control for the Christmas lights does not work the TV, silly old twat. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I used to take the old boy shopping when he developed Alzheimer's...Yes,you've guessed it,on the odd occasion he'd try and swipe his remote control to pay at the till!.Guess who ended up paying...
