I hate when Obertan


Run > Beat defender > Stop > turn > try to beat defender > turn > turn > losses ball.

 

Decent timing as Anelka and Alex have just handed in transfer requests.

 

Get them both snapped up ASAP.. Anelka is apparently avaliable for around 1m cause his contract runs out in the summer.. I think Alex's one also runs out so we might get him on the cheap.

 

What could Pardew have done differently?

I'd have preferred Ben Arfa on and Obertan off, but our bench was ridiculously poor! The 2 Ameobis played well when they came on and both could've had a goal!

 

No chance on either to be honest but I'm hoping we can somehow sly a defender in for a month. Is it possible ? can we get a free out of contract defender or something?

 

Wages will be a problem though.

I think he's on around 90k a week at Chelsea.

 

I think that they are out of contract says a lot. Wouldn't want them.

Don't think the latter would be a problem as he'd definitely be in the starting XI week in week out.

 

He makes peculiar decisions all the time. Often I can't understand them - - until they work, which they generally do. Today, one sub was forced upon him but played well. The other two both nearly scored. The players they came on for had not done a lot all game. How can you even begin to criticise his decisions today ?

I would have made different ones too. It is extemely unlikely that my decisions would have been as good as his

 

He made one big decision today and that was taking off Ben Arfa.

It was a bad decision in my opinion as he should have taken Lovenkrands off and put HBA on the wing for him to whip some decent crosses in or produce that moment of magic that everyone knows he's capable of.

I don't understand how you'd rather keep Lovenkrands on the pitch than Ben Arfa.

 

Lover did ok in comparison to Obertan. he should have gone 4-4-2 and taken of Raylor and Obertan in the first half.

 

Actually come to think of it , you're right.

Should have kept Lover on and taken the ineffective Obertan off for Shola and left Ben Arfa on.

 

Ah well , if's and but's , should have and could have.

Got to get this out of our system and prepare for the Norwich game which is difficult enough with all of our main players fit but going to be extremely difficult without Colo and Saylor.

 

Yep mate, 100%. He does NOTHING but run into traffic and give the ball away. Lost count of how many times people screamed at him to pass. Never tracked back and the ball did not stick in the final third when he was on the pitch.

 

Or perhaps he took off a very talented player who had done **** all in the first half and put on two players who both nearly scored, instead of keeping a player on the ptich who doesn't want to [lay on the wing as opposed to a player who was prepared to do the assignment he was given.

The idea that there was some other substitutiono out there that would have made evertything all right is just daft.

We were playing a very good team. We lost some key players. We had a bit of bad luck. We lost.

There's no reason to think there was anything Pardew could have done to change that.

 

He didn't have the best of halves but he's a player that can produce a moment of magic out of nothing and that was what Chelsea had in abundance and we were lacking!

Would have liked to see Obertan , who is **** , being taken off and for Ben Arfa to take his place on the wing.

 

Obertan was worse

 

I really didn't see him give the ball away many times at all? I mean, he definitely didn't threaten goal, but I thought his passes were safe, and he really didn't receive much service (whether thats due to him not finding space, or teammates didn't find him I don't know)
