Totally agree. EH didn’t rush them or drop them in the deep end. Coached them and played them at the right time and allowed them to develop and improve. Just goes to show that he might actually know what he’s doing.
Must admit I think the immediacy of football is a problem for some, myself included. It’s that inspect everything, myopic nature of football being everywhere 24/7 that does more harm than good. Football is not a knee jerk sport, it takes time and a number of people would do well to remember that. Plus I’m fed up of people changing my Netflix username and my laundry bill for soiled sheets needs reducing.
Howe and the new ownership..... this idea he's turning water into wine is a little fallacious. He's one of if not the best manager we've had though.... better than Keegan.
Anyone knows it's not just the money - look at Chelsea under Potter. The simple fact is he massively improved players like Joelinton, Murphy, Miggy, Schar, Longstaff, Willock etc. Better than Keegan yes, we had more money than anyone else under Keegan and he lost the plot, I'd say Robson was maybe better than Howe though.
Rather anyone knows it's not just about a manager. Football is decided mainly money.. the managers can ride waves at times and some are definitely better than others, but none of these guys are turning water into wine. Newcastle got significantly better following the first transfer window after the takeover and when Howe moved Joelinton into midfield among other things like picking Schar. Bobby is miles ahead as a manager but probably on par with Howe for achievements at Newcastle..
I can't rank Sir Bobby, KK and Eddie as to whose the best. They've all been top managers for us and I'm so thankful for all of them. As KK said recently that he's had his time and now it's Eddie's turn to make some history for us.
He didn’t improve Hayden, Fraser, Lascelles, Lewis, Karius, Hendrick, ASM, Darlow, Manquillo. Hes done a good job. But he’s had money and a club at the bottom of the table getting that money can move up the table fast.
It's also notable that when the money dried up the improvement stopped. Football is decided in the main by money and that's the bottom line. It's why financial rules are so prevalent.
That's called knowing your limits. If he could just take any Tom, Dick and Championship-level footballer and turn them into a superstar we wouldn't need to be worrying about spending.
Firstly he did improve Fraser, he actually played well for a while after Howe arrived. Also Karius was never anywhere near the first team, and the one game he played for us, he was MOTM. Secondly if we were too move up the table and not be in a relegation scrap constantly, they were players who obviously needed replacing.....when Keegan took us from the bottom of the second tier to challenging for the Prem title in 4 years, do you knock him for the fact he wasn't challenging for the Prem title with Mark Stimpson, Matty Appleby, Kevin Scott, Alan Nielsen, Kevin Brock, Tommy Wright, and Andy Hunt?
