The British homeless people probably paid into the system at some stage , their families have paid in for generations . I'm not too sure it is 'rightie' hypocrisy alone. Both sides claim to care about the plight of the needy yet do little to alleviate the situation. Many lefties champion the refugees' cause, but how many actually offer to put them up in their own homes? Personally, I wouldn't want a British homeless person or asylum seeker in my domain, yet I still care and offer a few quid when possible. Give me a sickly hedgehog any day of the week.

Wonderful post, thank you. I am only responding on the initial demand that I take in asylum seekers, pointing out those making the demands don’t do the same for ‘their own’. Absolutely agree a lot of us try and help where we can, bit of money, some volunteering, it all helps.
