What Reeves is proposing, amalgamating public sector pension pots, was actually first introduced by David Cameron in 2015 and even Jeremy Hunt had it on his radar during the last parliament. I’ve absolutely no idea why you’re trying to conflate US state pensions with this scheme as only Canada and Australia do anything like what Reeves is proposing. US public sector state pensions are going through the same issues that the UK faced (and I’m assuming the rest of the world that offers these types of pensions) as they are DB schemes. As the DB schemes guarantee a retirement income and as the numbers claiming steadily rise, outgoings are greater than incomings, therefore resulting in riskier type investments to balance the books.
