I have to say I'm still proud of the team. We were battering them for parts of that game, particularly the first 20 or so minutes of the second half, but they've got too much class in the likes of Mata and Sturridge who were both outstanding today. 1 point from 9 against Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea isn't disgraceful in my opinion, considering the rest of the country expected us to lose all three!
These games will determine nothing over the season, but the lesser games will. Its more important to come thorugh them without picking up injuries/suspensions, while nicking the odd point or shock win is merely a welcome bonus.
Was a damn good game. Newcastle hit the bar a few times but could have been about 5-0 down by half time. Sturridge should have scored more. Could be interesting if both Colo and the tw*t known as S.Taylor are out for any length of time.
I fully agree with that . I'm naturally a pessimist, so always write off games against opposition that can spend more on one player than we can spend on an entire squad. We've beaten Blackburn, Wigan, Wolves, Fulham, Everton, Stoke and Sunderland which matters more to me and I would imagine most fans in the league. By the end of the season, we'll be around teams like you lot and Everton but unlikely to be in that top 6. I'd settle for just outside of it .
NEWCASTLE UNITED PLUNGED INTO CRISIS!!!!......as they maintain a 0% record at the Sports Direct Arena
Steven Taylor ruptured achilles today. Thats a blow... Might be quite a significant turning point for the mags.
Perhaps! Chelsea should've been a man down inside 5 mins, we hit the post and bar three times and we got a few injuries. Still, if we play like we did today against Swansea, Norwich, WBA and Bolton then I think we'll be ok. It's not every week you have to play against Mata and Sturridge!
