BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea confirm transfer requests have been accepted from striker Nicolas Anelka and defender Alex. They will be off next month if Chelsea can find a buyer. What do we think of that? (source: BBC web site) Imagine him and Ade up front!
I've heard that he's off to China for about £9m a season, from a Chelsea fan that claims it's a good source. No idea how true it is. Anelka's capable of playing as a lone striker and would probably complement Adebayor well, but his wage demands would be extreme, I think.
he would do a job for us of ticking us over but i really think defoe can add something to his game because he seems to be always on the bench injury barring...but then he only has his own limits to blame....i wouldnt say this if i didnt think he can step it up....think we need to unearth a gem as oppose to going for an Anelka...
For me, as I've said, at the right price - yes. If Anelka has put in a request, that must mean he wants to be off in January - His contract is up in the summer, anyway.
They're letting Alex go, but are keeping Terry? Villas-Boas shouldn't be sacked, he should be sectioned.
We could also take Fat Frank and Alex. Actually, I've worked out AVB's plan to becoming title challengers, again. He's going to, over time, swap his entire squad for ours!
Personally I think he's doing a great job, I hope he's soon to be rewarded with a new 10 year contract!
Agreed. We've got some good youth coming through so I don't think we need to get too worried about age. Alex is totally underrated at Chelsea, easily their best centreback and even on Saturday when they managed a cleansheet it showed how fragile they are without him.
Alex, Ivanovic and Cole deserve to stay - Terry needs to go for so many reasons, Bosingwa is a dud, and Luiz has gone from looking decent to being appalling in a remarkable space of time.
Can't argue with that. Cole has surprised me this season, he's looked half the player he was even last season. Luckily the Chuckle Brothers in the middle are doing a good job of distracting everyone.
This is going to sound a bit odd, but they should probably go for an odd formation, like 5-4-1. They've got no proper wingers, their full-backs are both more comfortable going forward and have no protection and one of their centre-halves thinks that he's an attacking midfielder. Play two of Alex, Ivanovic and Terry as traditional defenders, allow Luiz the freedom to attack when he feels like it and never pick Mikel as a holding player again.
When they sack every available football manager in the world, they'll need someone to run the team. I'll just remember to say "...into the ground" quietly when I get the interview.
I bet AVB would love Chelsea to be playing in the style of Spurs atm.Fast, accurate passing and using every inch of the pitch. Well bad luck we've got the players and you haven't.
