Pardew is a despicable human being. Ask anyone who worked at Sparrows Lane.

Scotland had a German manager a while ago, Bertie Vogts. He was a bit of a character, but a disaster as a manager.

Yes but I think most Managers would be a disaster managing Scotland.

One of those players may well be Charlton captain Don Welsh.

As far as I'm aware the England team were only ordered to give that salute on one occasion (1938 I think) and Welsh was in the team that day.
He won 3 caps for England.

Harry Kane sticks the boot in

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c1jr97r6e7jo

Gareth may have been a pain in the rear, but he did seem to be able to create a sense of enjoyment of the process among his squads.
England's new manager on the other hand isn't interested in even turning up until January.
Clearly he couldn't give a fart about our National team.
    Why should he?

I'm with the Clubs and the disinterested players on this matter.
England - not even in the top division of a meaningless European league.
And facing a "must win" game against who is it, Greece?
    <doh>
I'll have the weekend off thanks.

The bloke is a Kraut? Do you think that is acceptable language to use on a Public forum. Because I don't. The reason he is not starting now, is that an 18 month contract was mutually agreed between him and the FA. That would take us through the World Cup. He was principally employed to win us the World Cup.

I must admit I didn’t find it offensive, football banter as far as I’m concerned - a bit like the Yanks calling us limeys

I was originally not minded to remove it, but I thought again.
On reflection it was not necessary to be that rude about Tuchel in order to get my point across.

I can't abide International football anyway. Another 9 days until Charlton play again. Ridiculous in the 3rd tier :emoticon-0172-mooni

    Re: This latest international break.

I had to laugh at the ITV advert today for Greece v England, apparently it’s a “must win game as the country seeks to qualify for the Nations League play offs next year”

    What an utter piss take.

Having had a pop at England players who can't be bothered to pull on the shirt, it turns out that Harry Kane hasn't been picked <laugh>

You couldn't make it up <doh>

I didn’t watch the game last night, although I had a losing bet on it.

I just think international football has had its day, there is no pizzazz about it, and very little excitement.

Every football fan will be up for a World Cup, but there are now far, far too many matches involving small & irrelevant impoverished European nations ..like Scotland.

We're pi55ed off with Charlton but angry with the interminable international breaks for denying us our weekend dose of misery.

Supporting your club is part of life’s rich tapestry though.

Can anyone remember who won the so-called Nations League last time out? Me neither.

I had a read up on the Nations League.

To nobodies surprise, it was “created” for money reasons. It was thought that more games would = more money for middle and small ranking European countries.

There was an unwelcome trade off, however. An extra 6-10 international games per season resulted in inevitable fixture congestion. Moaning multi millionaire twats like Klopp & Pep- men with no stake in the English game other than their pay cheques from it, bleated, and the English FA responded as they always do, by punishing the little guy (at least the English one). FA Cup replays - real money spinners for non league clubs - were scrapped. In the first round of this year’s FA Cup, at least 8 small clubs therefore lost the right to a replay after drawing their tie.

There was to be another added bonus for the big countries & big players from this Nations League. The likes of Harry Kane got 6-10 more opportunities to massage their stats and thus improve their commercial earnings, by banging in more pointless goals against tiny countries. What’s not to like ?

So, in short, the price we pay for San Marino playing Gibraltar last night is the likes of Barrow, Morecambe and Harrogate having to extend their overdrafts at the bank this season, in order to survive.

And they say UEFA isn’t corrupt ….
