Unlikely. Horse drawn vehicles aren't really a great contributor towards increased carbon emissions.

Temperature fluctuations over time are natural (and occasionally disastrous) phenomena. The slight possible temperature increase you refer to was probably caused by a shift in the propensity of the gulf stream, which greatly impacts the climate of Britain. We are vulnerable to its whims. Hopefully it doesn't collapse as a result of climate change directly attributable to human activity as some scientists project, otherwise you're gonna need your winter fuel allowance back, and then some.

The slight possible increase…It wasn’t a possible one it was an actual one.The Romans had vineyards right up into what is now Northumbria.

There's a vineyard in Northumberland today - just outside of Bamburgh.

It won't survive the frosts if the Gulf Stream collapses.

The Roman Warm Period was not a global phenomenon. Today's climate change is.

Isn't there a big Roman dig at Bamburgh?

It was more widespread than just Britain.

Correct. Europe and the North Atlantic. Not global, though.

A dig unearthed a Roman Roundhouse beneath Bamburgh Castle a couple of years ago.

Bamburgh is also where a storm about 25 years ago unearthed an Anglo-Saxon burial ground beneath the beach. The bodies were all examined, analysed and reinterred in the crypt of Bamburgh Church. The amount of information they were able to extract was astonishing. Bamburgh was the seat of the Kings of Northumberland at the time and was incredibly cosmopolitan. People travelled from all parts of the known world to work and live there.

It's also were Grace Darling is buried.

Lovely place. Well worth a visit if you're up this way.

Now we are being told animals farting and belching are a contributor to global warming, so horse drawn vehicles were along with all the buffalo that used to roam the Americas

First castle to fall to gunfire. One of the best beaches you can come across anywhere.

Yes because cutting down on the 1% of global emissions that the UK is responsible for will do a lot of good while the likes of China and India carry on regardless (ooh...er...missus)

PS - should this stuff be moved to Climate thread or something as opposed to clogging up a MTD?

    Yes, "we" as in humanity!
(And we need to cut down on eating meat and drinking milk).
    It's a no-brainer ... but won't happen, too many vested interests ... and cnuts.
