As opposed to being bored to death by Wally's sh!te tactics? We can't even defend and hope for the odd goal at the moment because we can't keep a clean sheet

If so he’s probably noticed us only having Pandur further back than their box for our corners!

Probably why their keeper just kicked it out to give us a corner so they knew they’d have a good chance of scoring!!!

The outrage is in the flippant response to a genuine concern about our lack of ability to keep a clean sheet. Nothing pathetic about it.

To be fair Baz has just about said from day one that he doesn't think TW style will work, he wanted it to, but like most of us doesn't really see a style, it all looks a bit chaotic.

It may well have work in Germany, but from what I have seen, you get a bit more time on the ball there, whereas the Championship is not like that.

A lot of us thought so too, the German second division is a far lower standard and it's crazy Tim thought he could come in and just copy paste.

If we do go down then surely Acun goes full circle and appoints McCann to lead the charge! <cheers>

This is true, but we're no longer gifting a **** ton of chances to the opposition, at least.

I still maintain that if we had a decent striker, someone like Glatzel or Zeqiri or several others we were linked with in the summer that we didn’t get, and we signed Meffert we’d be around 10th-8th right now and that would be papering over Walter’s shortcomings.

I’m not delusional to think he’s doing a good job and he’s certainly flawed. He’s rigid and has a ‘I’ll break before I bend’ attitude that a lot of managers and coaches have these days regarding their styles of play. Rosenior’s the same, as is Russell Martin at Southampton. He’s also not made himself endearing to the supporters and there’s a very unpleasant atmosphere towards him by supporters and media alike so now he’s a dead man walking. Rosenior was well-liked by the supporters because he has history with the club, even though his attitude and arrogance regarding tactics isn’t too dissimilar to Walter’s. It’s not really a matter of if he gets sacked now; it’s when.

That being said, given he chops and changes his midfield so often and doesn’t know his best team, having Meffert at the base of midfield would’ve gone a long way as he’s played under Walter for years at Holstein Kiel and Hamburg. I’m convinced he would’ve been a stabilising force to anchor the midfield and been Walter’s conductor on the pitch to help the rest of the squad adjust to his style and patterns of play. Having a mobile striker who can get into good positions and is a good finisher was also crucial and we didn’t get one.

One thing that struck me as interesting on the 1904 Club was Burnsy’s comments regarding statements Tan made during one of the live episodes about the club having funding for two years, highlighting that this season would be the second.

Fletch also looked into the question about the accounts, which showed an operating loss of at least £21m. We don’t know what impact last season will have had on that, but it won’t be good.

Then there’s all the rumours of the financial reasons Tan left.

We can debate all day whether Walter needs more time or whether his system might work by 2027, but thinking about the bigger picture it seems like if we are relegated things could get really bad, financially?

A new manager is never a guarantee, but it’s starting to feel like a lot more relies on our Championship status than whether the football is exciting enough or not.

I like the 1904 club but I don't think they're a great source for discussion of club finances. It's a complex matter and you want to be looking at what the likes of that Kieran Maguire bloke are saying about the accounts when they come out rather than laymen like Burnsy interpreting the figures. I think most championship clubs make losses and have debts, but who they are indebted to and the circumstances of that debt are very significant details.

I get that, but I still wonder what Acun’s funding plan would be beyond the two years mentioned. If we go down, does he continue to invest like he has?

I imagine his plan would have been to recover what he’s put in by reaching the Premier League and being in League 1 significantly reduces the possibility of that happening.

If the rumours are true that he’s losing interest, how does the club manage that monetarily?

It was my point the other day though, the league he’s coached in is irrelevant

The terrible system can work better in a lower quality league though
Especially when you have one of the best squads of players in the league
