I've already paid for all the games (as have most people). Will still buy tickets for away games too.
Fair play to you then Libs, I honestly can't say I will watching with Martin in charge. I think he has been the worst manager we had, at least the others who were crap tried different things. The whole thing with the club, plus the VAR bollocks is really turning me off football altogether. I can't say I enjoyed last season much either, couldn't stand the way we played, even when winning. I guess at least winning didn't sour my mood as much.
My point was the majority of people can't vote with their wallets; 24,000 out of 27,000 have already paid for their seats. The club won't care if the seats themselves are empty. I might miss the Liverpool game but that was always a possibility anyway regardless of Martin. If people feel that strongly they're better of turning up and making their feelings known imo.
Yeah sorry I get your point, more about the message that empty seats give out. Also, without people there the match day sales of drinks, mood, merchandise goes down also. And to be fair, people can decide for themselves to turn up or not, just for me this has been horrendous, without signs of it changing. That said, would be typical for us to pick up unexpected wins. I'm not sure we have it in us to protest effectively, maybe the fans in the stadium will do us proud.
Actually that's not strictly true. People who set up direct debits for their ST are free to cancel it at any time.
Fair point. Doesn't seem particularly likely though and would mean that couldn't use that option again in future I believe. And you could guarantee that anyone who did that would moan like **** if they didn't get a semi ticket should we perform a miracle against the Scousers.
Not going to happen in a million years. Absolute fantasy. Plus I don't want to boycott. Why should I because some people are upset on the internet? Chants against the manager would also send a message.
You shouldn't have to, but there are other people not on the internet that are upset too. I mean, I've been upset all day about it, and I didn't come on to the internet until earlier this evening. And I agree, it will never happen, maybe a few hundred don't turn up. Still bollocks from the club imo.
I didn’t say you had to, it’s entirely up to you. I’m not saying we force 24k season ticket holders to not turn up. That wouldn’t ever happen and wouldn’t be fair to people who want to watch. All I’m saying is that if a significant minority didn’t turn up it would speak volumes. Maybe protest outside. People chant when they’re a bit pissed off, I don’t think managers or owners take any notice. As a fan base we are passive and accepting of the **** we’re served up. “Ah it’s not the winning, it’s the taking part”.
Yeah fair enough that was poorly worded by me. I just don't think there's that much of an appetite to not go to games. Going to match is about far more than the actual football for many people. In the main people get pissed off and then they get over it imo. We're a pretty passive fanbase relatively speaking.
The crowd hasn’t even turned against Martin at a game yet (unless the away did at Wolves?). Think we’re a way off any sort of protest yet.
I'd argue a few hundred not turning up or standing outside would have far less impact than a few thousand chanting inside the ground. Especially when a match is on Sky and it therefore gets picked up by them. I disagree that the club take no notice of fans chanting inside the ground. I'm sure it played a part when Jones was turned on so quickly as I don't think Rasmus would have binned his man so quickly otherwise. I also think the "don't know what you're doing" chants towards Ralph helped sow the doubts ahead of the summer where we know they considered their options. Fact is it's hard to ignore widespread discontent when it's affecting the atmosphere in the ground and places more pressure at the owners door.
Exactly. Not even close to any sort of boycott. A complete non starter at this point. I didn't hear any chants at Wolves but was obviously gone by the final whistle.
The only way it could change, if we get hammered by Liverpool. I would take it, if it meant he would be gone. 9 nil anyone? Lol
I did originally think of that but then decided on a different approach. I'm not really enjoying home games at all so I'll sell my ticket to home games that sell out and use the credit on away games.
Curse it first I missed page 1000 on saints stuff and now page 100 on this thread. This week is turning into a f'ing disaster
