I just don’t know why anyone would put Dawson and Barmby in the same conversation regarding coaching credentials. Dawson has been assistant coach to Arveladze, Rosenior and now Walter. Barmby’s last coaching stint was being in Chris Bolder’s shadow at Wyke.

EDIT: it was Chris at Wyke. Adam at Wilberforce. I should know because I was a student at Wyke and worked at Wilberforce <laugh>

Or they are making themselves look better by saying the opposition are better than they are. Pep does that constantly. Every manager he plays is a world beater.

Yes, I found that a very telling exchange. Prutton couldn't believe he's said it and was laughing out loud. Baz had apparently ask Walter what he was doing to tighten up at the back and Walter just laughed.

I know that was his line before he started but we've kept a clean sheet once in 13 league games. So we almost always need to score at least two to win. We've score two or more in four games and won only 3 of those.

The we're gonna score one more than you tactic isn't working with this team and/or in this division. Maybe it would have with the squad we had last season as it had much more individual talent.

Tom Huddlestone, who's name I threw into the hat, is not a giggle or tinpot suggestion. Club legend, I agree with, also a very respected Ex England international and top Premier League footballer plus being probably the most skillful footballer this club has ever had on its books.
He is learning the management side of the game the hard way too. He was coaching the Manchester United Youth teams before leaving to be assistant coach at Wigan. Then he moved up to coaching the England Under 21's and is currently the first team coach at Birmingham City. One day he will make the step up to manager.
Hardly a 'tinpot' applicant and one who would probably have a bit more idea, respect, and more contacts in the English game then the manager we are currently pinning our hopes on.

If we are two goals down, Tim wants us to score three. I don't see a problem with that. It's not like anyone has suggested he wants to deliberately go two goals down just to make it exciting - I found that segment of the podcast, notably the faux outrage, really pathetic to be honest.

I'd agree if we seemed at all capable of scoring 3 on a regular basis.

However, if the squad is lacking goal scorers would it not be more pragmatic to tighten up at the back and give us a chance of winning 1-0?

I find managers who dogmatically stick to "their" style and system instead of adapting to the squad they have. He's not the first we've had like this but the most successful mangers we've had such as Bruce and Brown adapted to the players we had available at the time.

In my humble opinion of course.

There is a big difference between coaching and managing though
And as much as I love Huddlestone he's not the most skillful player we've had on the books.
There is also nothing to suggest a skillful players makes a good manager, you could even argue the opposite as a less skillful player will have to be better at reading the game

We were 2 goals down on Sunday.I'm in no doubt Tim(and the rest of us for that matter) wanted us to score 3...We got 1 but sadly that yielded 0 points, hence the reason we're tied for 3rd bottom.

Surely the point though is that it's utterly ridiculous to be saying that when we not only aren't outscoring teams but don't look remotely like doing so. As someone else said already, saying that we'll outscore teams might've made sense in the summer as a principle, but when we're 15 games in, haven't looked coherent in attack all season and haven't even scored twice in a game in ages, it just seems an absolutely absurd thing to say so confidently. I don't see how that claim could be met with anything but disbelief.

You're right, there'll be a plethora of better candidates knocking Acun's door down to get the job.

Yeah we all want us to do that, a bit like the Geordies in the 90’s. The point was that we aren’t having enough shots on goal to score 3,4 goals etc.
