Apologies, I just posted about this on the Good News thread. Fantastic news for anyone who wanted the BBC to survive. Setting aside he was paid £1,200,000 a year of licence fee payers money to read an autocue, Lineker is a massive hypocrite who repeatedly and flagrantly breached BBC guidelines to promote his pro EU, pro Woke, pro mass immigration agenda. He openly mocked previous Prime Ministers in the last Govt, although he’s gone very quiet under this thieving & useless one. I say hypocrite because for someone so oft lecture on morality, it’s odd that he’s a known tax avoider, who cheated on his then pregnant wife with the family au pair. His biggest crime was to repeatedly claim that the thousands of dangerous young foreign men of fighting age who have arrived here illegally in rubber dinghies were somehow deserving of compassion and tax payer handouts, as genuine refugees. He will now have plenty of time to home them himself. Vile bloke.
It would be karma if he took one of the tens of thousands of unvetted single men of fighting age in , and they turned out to be an extremist with dangerous political views. Lineker would then find out that Woke, right on views have very real consequences, just like many of us living in London have.
His greatest crime was endorsing Wa*kers Crisps. Salt & Vinegar flavour should come in a BLUE packet and Cheese & Onion should come in a GREEN packet
Lots of people did.. when he was a footballer. He crossed a line when he used his BBC platform to push his political views. I hope the BBC replace him on MOTD with a heavyweight presenter similar to Desmond Lynam. I fear they will appoint Alex Scott …
Hardly any heavyweight presenters left. Fans wouldn't mind seeing Jeff Stelling get the job I think, but I assume the BBC wouldn't want to pay him enough. I expect one of Gary's pundit panel will get it Just for laughs, give it to Gazza
Scott ticks a few boxes. She’s also single handedly destroyed Football Focus by showing inappropriate lunchtime content, so she must be a front runner. Jill Scott must have a strong chance as well, being LBTQT, and having She / Her personal pronouns. If the BBC wants to appoint a non footballer as the new MOTD host, perhaps they might consider Alan Carr or Graham Norton ?
I occasionally watch some of it on Sunday morning but the Premiership is too predictable. Charlton Live with Louis Mendez is far more interesting, and It’s interactive. Our old friend AHLL is a regular contributor.
About bloody time, I say. I'm sick and tired of funding his cushy, vastly overpaid sinecure. Anyone with half a loaf could do his job to a satisfactory standard. I'd plump for Colin Murray, as his passion for and knowledge of the game are unquestionable. Trouble is, he leans a little too far to the left for my liking. It will be Alex Scott.
