Thought it would be good to have a championship thread where we can discuss other teams, the league, players, managers etc Been some good discussions on match day threads and the non sunderland game one in particular so thought having a championship thread would be good
I'm intrigued by that appointment, he did well when he 1st went in at Derby but he was helped by the loan players he got I would def rather Robins in charge if I was a Coventry fan
There's been a lot of talk on other threads about who are the best players in the Championship, so I wondered what everyone's championship match day squad would look like this season if you could pick any player from any team Here would be mine (433 formation) Cooper (Sheff Utd) Hume Rodon (Leeds) Esteve (Burnley) Cirkin Ampadu (Leeds) Jobe Hamer (Sheff Utd) Gnoto (Leeds) Sargent (Norwich) Sainz (Norwich) Subs Beadle (Sheff wed) Ahmedhodzic (Sheff Utd) Burrows (Sheff Utd) Vini Souza (sheff utd) Rigg Hackney (Boro) Doak (Boro) Mundle Maja (WBA) I was tempted to put in Isidor instead of Maja but Maja would be a cracking sub with his movement in the box Mepham was close but just feel the 3 CBs I've put in are better than him I also think Bogle has been good for Leeds but very hit or miss When I was thinking about my ideal team it was really tough, I honestly think there is so much talent in the championship these days. Most teams have 1 or 2 really good players these days
I wonder if this is the appointment that finally convinces owners that Lampard isn't as good as the hype surrounding him might suggest. Robins is a much better bet. Looking at other clubs, Millwall are on a good run at the minute and we've got them next with almost half a team out. It'll be interesting to see how RLB changes things around for that game. Millwall don't seem to concede many goals of late, much like Burnley. A lot of One-Nils. I expected more of Burnley as an attacking force this season, but they've struggled in front of goal. I still think they'll be in the shake up with ourselves, Leeds and Sheff Utd. That's my top four, as they seem to be the most consistent. The rest seem to win a few then lose a few. Who does everyone else think will be the top four come the end of the season?
I can't call the top 4 at the minute, the top 6 is even harder to call I can't see Leeds finishing out the top 3, sheff utd should be top 3 as well. Burnley have been the least impressive of the top sides, but they have good depth and surely they'll start to play better soon. Those 3 are hard to bet against for top 4 and then us or Boro are probably the next 2 'favourites' for top 4
Borja Sainz is a cracking player at Norwich. 11 goals and 2 assists in 15 league games so far this season. Fully expect bids for him in January. I wonder what their valuation is, he was signed on a free transfer…
Wonder if he still has the contacts he had at Chelsea now romans gone? Mount, Harry Wilson and tomori in that Derby side is ridiculous at championship level
Latest odds to gain promotion Leeds 1/6 Sheffield United 5/6 Sunderland 11/10 Middlesbrough 5/4 Burnley 15/8 West Brom 3/1 Millwall 12/1 Watford 14/1 Coventry 16/1 Bristol City 20/1
Nearly every season one club make a decent run to push up the league and challenge for playoffs.... Just don't see that this year. The top 7/8 clubs right now seem to be those fighting it out
Vigouroux (Swansea) Hume Rodon (Leeds) Souttar (Sheff U) Cirkin Vinicius Souza (6) (Sheff U) Jobe Azaz (Boro) Sainz (Norwich) Maja (WBA) Gnonto (Leeds) Bench; Cooper (Sheff U) Mepham Burrows (Sheff U) Hamer (Sheff U) Grimes (Swansea) Ampadu (Leeds) Mundle Wright (Coventry) Lathh (Boro) Probably would’ve had Cooper and Hamer (for Azaz) too but didn’t want to make the team too similar to yours! Burrows is neck and neck with Cirkin for me but our boy just edges it. Pires from Burnley and Doughty at Luton also really good options. Seems like all the decent full backs play on the left which makes it easy to put Hume in the team.
Trafford (Burnley) Bogle (Leeds) Ahmedhodzic (Sheff Utd) Esteve (Burnley) Cirkin Tanaka (Leeds) Hamer (Sheff Utd) Jobe Gnonto (Leeds) Sargent (Norwich) Wright (Coventry) Definitely harsh on Sainz but I prefer Wrights ability to stretch the pitch.
I'm sure the bookies know their stuff but some of that looks strange to me.. I've seen West Brom play and I really don't think they're a good side. In their five October games they lost to Boro then drew with Cardiff and Millwall, all at home. They managed to score one goal against Oxford in the whole month. Are they much better than Millwall who's odds are four times as great.
I quite like watching both teams, anything can happen when they play Plymouth need cissoko playing to have any chance of winning
