I'm never confident we can become a top side. I do think he's got a chance of doing something like Burkinshaw achieved.

I'm no more confident in that outcome than I would be in the next appointment doing any better.

We've tried changing managers every season or so. It hasn't worked. Does anyone have any faith in ENIC picking the right one, if we prematurely sack Ange between now and the transfer window? They'll likely **** up the appointment or they'll fail to invest the required budget.

Let Ange have the rest of this season and review it in the summer. We've seen plenty of managers thrown to the baying mob, let's see the club back one.

    It's so hard to know.

There are definitely a number of players who just aren't kicking on convincingly or consistently.

Porro, Udogie, Romero, Bentancur, Bissouma, Johnson, Maddison - all look good in fits and starts but then vanish for multiple games at a time.

The question then becomes have we simply signed yet more players with relatively low ceilings (an issue that long preceded Ange), or is the manager failing to coach them into better players?

But then we need to genuinely back him.

What we did in the summer wasn't 'backing' Ange. It was backing whoever will be in the dugout for the 2026/27 season. Might be him, might not be.

Our signings are nothing to do with Ange, he wanted Neto & Eze and was given Werner & Odobert instead, only one player signed last summer arguably improved the first XI. Too many of our players are not the required level and there is not a leader among them, there is also a mentality of mediocrity that has been manufactured over decades, which is now so deep rooted it is not only expected but also accepted.

Sacking Ange will make no difference in the long term, there might be a short new manager bounce but eventually it will revert to the same old conversations like all the rest of them, it is all on Levy & ENIC and the way they run Spurs, Antonio Conte was 100% correct with his parting shot. There is no point sacking Ange, we may as well give him the season and see if he can somehow pick us up a cup.

I don't understand what the FBs are meant to be doing either. It worked for a bit when it caught the league by surprise but they've all more than wised up to it now and as a result there is very little contribution from either at both ends of the pitch...Udogie especially as he hasn't got as good a delivery or shot as Porro.

I also don't understand what the midfielders are meant to be doing. Who is tracking opposition runners? Who is looking to overlap Solanke on the blind shoulder as Dele used to do so well? Who covers for the FBs when they are 60 yards out of position?

The more I watch the system, the more it comes across as a happy go lucky wing and a prayer approach that looks great when it works but is a total mess when it doesn't.

We bought for the long term...and we appoint coaches for the short term. That's not going to work.

If the methodology is to build a team around a group of talented under 21's, sacking a coach who can't get that squad into the Top 4 or 6 this season isn't the answer. Arsenal took two 8th place finishes with Arteta on the chin.

If we sack Ange, it shouldn't be for results this season, maybe even next. That's just ****ing nuts.

Agreed but the question then is why we are persisting with players who are clearly not the future? Get Archie in the team and in his favoured position, not shoved out at LB. Get Mikey playing Moore (I'll get my coat soon) and acknowledge that Werner and sadly Son are stifling his development. Bring on Lankshear instead of Richarlison when we need another striker.

Ange is tying a noose for his own neck with his selections and approach. The youngsters aren't going to develop playing cameo roles out of position and then training with a bunch of senior players who are shockingly inconsistent.

Hug and kiss your loved ones, ladies and gents, whenever CK agrees with me it often results in a semi-cataclysmic event.

Is someone whispering in his ear about CL/getting the sack? Maybe there's pressure to utilise the highest earnres at the club? Maybe those players aren't doing it consistently in training?

I don't know. If the club sack him for being totally the wrong appointment in the first place, as he's not 'on plan', that's one thing, but sacking him for not turning the sack of **** that he inherited into instant Top 4 candidates, is another. If he goes in the near future, it's for the wrong reason....and unless the next chump has a magic wand, he'll be following on Ange's heels.

The club has to stop the kneejerk reaction, pick a direction and have the stones to keep to it, even if things get really tricky at points...because they will.

Sacking Ange should not even be in this conversation. We’ve lost this kind of match under every manager and every iteration of the team we’ve had. There’s no way to explain it, we’re cursed, ****ing cursed and we’re all destined to live in hope and hope is all we have forever.

I hate supporting this club, hate it but we’re still with them and so are our children, and our children’s children. For 6 months.

I would tend to agree that sacking Ange now is rather a stupid thing to do in my opinion. Have to wait to see how this season pans out, as painful as days like today are and then take stock.

As much as I love the talent potentially coming through I do think that it might be a tad to early to let them loose for a prolonged period. Some of those senior players need to take a good hard look at themselves though.

Anyway, traffic s*** so having a sad Burger King on my lonesome at Birchanger Services..

For a lady, you are quite a Spurs fan.But you have a point. We are rubbish one minute than good.Somewhere there is a strong center half and a no nonsense midfielder waiting for us to get this bloody team off it's ass!But where?

Doesn’t matter. Ange is fine but unfortunately he’s manager of spurs. We could have Ferguson with maradona and proper Ronaldo up top with Maldini and Baresi at the back but we’d still lose to Ipswich because we had a chance to go 3rd.

It's a pretty joyless experience being a Spurs fan, that's for sure.

    Zero trophies to celebrate.

And the football isn't particularly good beyond the occasional game.

It isn't so much that it's boring, it's more watching the same basic errors and lack of quality in key areas being repeated over and over again. That's what makes it so infuriating.
