I was in a great position to see it. He looked to the Assistant and the Assistant looked to him. The Assistant should have given it, he could see it. The Ref couldn’t, Dawson knew he was doing it out of his sight

I think the Assistant is new, to the Prem so finding his feet

Yeah that's what I saw too. The ref missed so looked over to the lino who signalled nothing.

Surely that's a perfect situation for VAR to get involved, when the ref has literally not seen an incident?

I also had a great view so we must have been fairly close? Was in JL3.

We’re definitely getting better at this Russball malarkey as a team
The trouble is you need match winners in your team and we have some competent players, some promising younger players, a couple of very good players, but no match winners like Cunha

If Wolves survive this season, they’ll lose Cunha and struggle again next. Not much of a barrel of fun really, is it

I don't mean to be, but I'm confused by this. What is it you believe we are getting better at? Russball is pure vanity imo. It isn't hard to constantly play the ball backwards and sideways.

The BBC I think it was said we have let in the most goals from mistakes, and conceded the most shots from our own errors.

This all confirms this way of playing is complete bollocks.

If we get relegated. Sorry when, and Martin is still in charge, do you think he will stay if say Bayern came knocking like they did with Burnley? I mean they won't, but he plays this way for himself.

I agree about Cunha, quality player.

He plays this way because he thinks it is the best way to win. He obviously isn't doing it so he looks good, as the only thing that really makes him look good is if the club he is at gets good results.

MOTD confirming that both the VAR decision and the non decision for their goal were wrong.

I can’t honestly believe anyone can look at our recent performances and say we are getting better. Even our one win was like pulling teeth and we did everything in our power to try and **** it up and give it away.

I disagree. He plays this way to make himself look good.

If it were your way, he'd clearly change the way we play.

Keith Hackett former referee has just posted
    Wolves v Southampton
Wolves take the lead inside 2 mins
Southampton equalise - VAR intervenes and Ref Bramhall decides that Wolves defender Simedo was impeded trying to clear the ball - Frankly I cannot see how VAR can get involved. The referee was in a good position and was happy with the challenge.
He had not made a clear and obvious error the Southampton goal should have counted
We need referees if they are going to be instructed to go to the monitor to be prepared to stick with their previous decision.
VAR Kavanagh you were wrong to intervene. Martin the Manager of Southampton was spot on with his analysis of this incident. The goal should have stood
The goal was incorrectly ruled out.
    2nd half
Wolves score a second but there was two clear fouls on Southampton players in the build up. One right under the referees nose.
How could this goal be allowed to stand.
Poor indecisive officiating by Referee Thomas Bramhall in this match and VAR Chris Kavanagh was equally poor today.

He’s a master tactician, it wasn’t his fault Southampton were relegated with the lowest points tally ever. Just think what he could do with the right squad…

I don't think us sitting bottom of the league makes him look particularly good.

Didn't do Kompany any harm, I think that's the point being made.

It's modern day football. The people in charge will look beyond results and points, and instead focus on style and metrics etc. Martin will tick so many boxes for clubs higher up the food chain, and only some of them will be scared off by him overseeing our limp relegation.

In the meantime, we have to sit back and watch his vanity project. Great for us in the Championship, dreadful for us in the PL.

It felt like half of Chelsea's squad were available for loan in the summer. And yet he was the one who we ended up. Great recruitment guys.

Was it ‘great’ in the Championship? I’d question that.

The big difference for me is that Kompany was a big name in football so gets a lot of credit, Martin on the other hand is just a wannabe.

I agree that Kompany's name is a massive benefit which Martin doesn't have. A hugely successful playing career and a disciple of Pep. It therefore makes it significantly less likely that Martin would ever be given the opportunity to jump from us to a massive side like Bayern. But I doubt that such a jump is part of Martin's career plan anyway. He's been happy so far to go MK Dons - Swansea - Southampton, so he's clearly fine with working his way up the ladder.

I guess the next logical step for him is a mid-table PL side who has aims of Europe. Maybe a side like Fulham, if they were to ever lose Silva. Or maybe Celtic, once Rodgers walks out on them again.

RM moaning about us not doing enough in the final third takes the piss. The team is playing to his instructions, which is why we seldom have sufficient players in/around the box when crosses come in.
We clearly need to start shooting more often instead of looking to pass the ball into the net.
Interesting to read that RM played with two centre forwards at MK Dons, so he’s not averse to it. Maybe trying 4-4-2 or play a diamond midfield with Dibling at the top of the diamond.
Also interesting to see that he sent Dibling on because he’s the only player who will take someone on in a 1v1 situation. If that’s the case, why isn’t he starting!
I feel for Sam Amo, another player who will take a defender on, when he gets overlooked and watches BBD and Arma filling the wide positions. What does he need to do to be given a chance.

Maybe you give him too much credit?
Not sure if this is the right thread to post this so apologies - I don't really get RM, should he be admired for sticking to his guns and playing his philosophy of football or should he be admonished for being stubborn and tactically naive? Is he saying " look everybody at what I can achieve with a set of mostly non premiership standard players, imagine what I could do with the proper investment? " It will be very interesting how his career progresses, I'm guessing not upwards but back down to the Championship, just can't see him being given free rein at any established club especially after what is lining up to be an appalling season back in the Prem with the Saints. Surely they can see past this negative turgid football ( even sends the wife into rages too! ) but who knows?
At the end of the day I just can't warm to him, he strikes me as smarmy and if he wasn't in football management he would be in recruitment instead - apologies to any recruiters out there, I'm sure there's some nice guys and gals in that industry. Perhaps it's those tight trousers and shoes that he wears?
btw I hate people calling the players ****, they're not **** it's just that they happen to be playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world if they were playing for Sholing FC you'd think they were mustard.
