The nosies on SWF were saying this. Sounded plausible to me. Could be wrong though. The main thing is they must have been looking.
From the bits I didn't think were appropriate to mention from my conversations at City, that would sound about right.
Let’s hope this is a turning point where we get a little more confidence. I still have serious doubts that this is the correct way for our squad to be playing to get the best out of them. (I think we have enough quality to stay up, but not playing this style). But if the players still like him and we start picking up points then let’s see what happens. If it’s true, and no one else was interested then we don’t have much choice anyway
It’s one win where in the first half we had over 70% possession and no shots on target. My position remains the same. I think we will pick up a win here and there but ultimately finish bottom. If we really tighten up at the back then we could see some 0-0’s or 1-0 wins.
Your last sentence is the crux of it for me. We are as good as down anyway regardless of the results yesterday, the only way we aren’t is if we (obviously) start winning some games. If we start winning games then Martin will rightly keep his job, if yesterday was an anomaly and we continue losing then likely no manager we would want long term is going to want the job, so we may as well keep Martin. The time to change has passed in my view, unless we just bin him and go with someone like Lallana until the end of the season and go for someone in the summer when we would be more attractive as one of the favourites in the Championship. Having said all that I do still remember when we last went down and the calls of “well we’re down anyway, give Selles the job” and as it turned out we actually still had a pretty good chance if you look at how bad all the other teams were. This season may be the same, even if we have had our easiest 3 fixtures of the season already
Fear again for RMs loyalty on players, rewarding some unconvincing individual displays with a unchanged team, because we won a close match
I thought that the board would give him Everton and Wolves. Now these are gone and we are only on 4 points it must be time now. This is the point where if he is not sacked we need to start putting pressure on the club as a fanbase. I like RM and I think he was alright (just alright though) with a decent squad in the Championship, but he has proven far off of what we need in the PL.
Whatever happens, it would take a miraculous turnaround in form and results to avoid relegation now, so my fear is the board won’t sack Martin.
Bad news is that the next five games (six if you include the League Cup) are so brutal that it is a terrible time to handover to another manager as the run could put them under immense pressure immediately.
They were, but largely because nobody else was saying yes to it. Now surely, surely, surely we say "Rohl or RVN" and go for it.
I've given Russell time understanding that he is working in real time to build and try and get results but now I'm just not seeing any signs of progress and it is worrying how he is being outmanaged during the matches. Wolves were there for the taking but we failed to put them under enough pressure despite all the possession. Dibling should be starting ahead of Adarma every day of the week and Jack shouldn't be playing if it dictates the formation or he should be in a back four.
Indeed. And so I sort of see it as nowhere to turn. No team is coming back from 4 points after 16 games. Put a new manager in charge now - well good luck getting anything from those games! Or stick with Martin through the games, and well we might as well stick with him through to the Championship next season. We either needed to make the change earlier, or have a few more points on the board to enable a new manager to come in just before Xmas with us still having a chance.
Which is why we need a Danny Rohl type. Someone who just might be able to get us out of this fix, but if he doesn't, will be good to get us up from Championship.
