People keep saying this but it's just simple counting. Yes we had some injuries last season, and they always seem to happen to the best players for some reason don't they, but we had far less injuries overall than the year before, just as Rosenior had said we would. I think people don't remember this but Rosenior made a big point ahead of summer 2023 of saying how shambolic our injury record had been and hinted that it came from the Shota pre-season prep. He promised he would sort it out and he absolutely did. I talked about this last season too because he wasn't getting the credit he deserved for it then. Of course we still got injuries but it was significantly less. Now we're back to having loads of soft tissue injuries. When you look at the list it really is a lot. Obviously luck plays some part but when it keeps piling up you'd be mad not to wonder if it's really all just luck, particularly when we have such a recent example of a manager saying he could improve it and doing so. Then when you think about this double sessions thing which has been controversial since the summer, it's an obvious link to wonder about.
Yes I am having a go, they may not be able to say its acl, but they're highly trained individuals who are supposed to recognise serious or potential serious injuries, part of their job is recognising when a player needs removing from the field to prevent further degradation of the problem. They've failed .. Twice !!
There is a pitchside (on field) assessment that can be done but the majority of physios won't do it unless the player is clearly in distress or unable to move their leg. Both players brushed it off themselves to carry on so it is either a lesser injury or they have told the physio they're fine. First question from the physio will be 'where is the pain' and the second will be 'can you move it'. After that, and if the player isn't giving it a high pain number grade they can't really make a call to bring a player off, especially a key player without going back and speaking to the manager. 9 times out of 10 the manager will tell them to sit down and shut up. They want their best players on. I did 2 years of a sports rehab degree so it was very much my game for a while. I didn't do my final year as I got offered a coaching job but I'd worked in the medical side at Hull KR and toured Russia and Italy with GB so know first hand how players will hoodwink a physio. I'm sure HowdenTiger2 does too. If they ain't in agony they won't want to come off and will say they're fine. The ACL test is hard to do if a player is fighting it.
I could still walk when I did my ACL, I’d completely snapped mine, although my knee did keep collapsing after a few steps. I doubt I’d have been able to play on. If Belloumi and Miller had only ACL tears, the damage may not have been as obvious. I also had a 3/4 tear to my LCL, MCL and a bucket tear to my miniscus. I did try walking down the piste - until I realised there wasn’t actually much holding it together.
Walter mentioned that he didn't actually have a lot of pain, but he could feel that there was no stability and that's when he eventually knew he had to come off. I can see why people question the process but it does seem to happen a lot that players go back on and then turn out to be more seriously injured than realised. Pretty sure Snodgrass played the rest of the first half when he dislocated his knee.
I didn’t have much pain, they did all the ACL tests in hospital in Italy, which I passed, they said no ACL damage. Back home at the Spire, I passed the second lot of ACL tests (Despite having no ACL at all) it was only the MRI scan that showed how jiggered my knee was. I obviously put that down to my elite athlete status
Hull City - We can confirm that Mohamed Belloumi has suffered an ACL injury. We’re all behind you, Mo. Have a speedy recovery and we can’t wait to see you back on the pitch soon.

Marvin Mehlem - Calf - Return date unknown. Abu Karama - Leg injury - Facing late fitness test for WBA. Liam Millar - ACL - Out for the season Doğukan Sinik - Back in full training. Ryan Longman - Shoulder surgery - Excpected to be in the squad for WBA. Andy Smith - Ankle injury - Doing gym work, not yet ready to get back out on the grass. Thimothee Lo-Tutala - Due back end October. Harvey Cartwright - Surgery on hand - Return date unknown.
Hull City's influential winger Liam Millar will undergo surgery on his right knee later today as he begins his long road to recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL). Millar has been at the training ground in recent days while he watched City's 2-1 home defeat to West Brom on Sunday. He was in good spirits ahead of going under the knife, feeling he’s in a good place ahead of his long road to recovery
In todays HDM article Cooper says that Carl Rushworth will be back to fitness after the international break - that’s sooner than originally announced I think. If so, wouldn’t be surprised to see him start at Luton.
I doubt they'd chuck him straight in to a game that quick, if it was going to happen I'd say the next game ( I still don't think it should either )
Of all the problems at the club right now, the current keeper doesn’t even make the list. In fact, he’s one of the few bright spots.
