But you are comparing apples with oranges here. Robins (and to a lesser extent - Rosenior at the time he was sacked) have a track record of improving teams in this division. Walter doesn't. The only thing we can judge Walter on at the moment is his body of work at Hull City so far. At this point in time - what I am seeing is a manager really struggling to get the side flowing and working together. I might be wrong and Walter might come good - I'm not pretending to know in depth. But my gut feeling is - its not going to work and I'm very unimpressed with what I have seen. Robins and Rosenior can point to a Championship record. Walter can't.
80% of them approximately are former Premier League teams for a sustained period. Many of them post bigger crowds, have bigger wider fan bases and have more successful histories. Let's not get carried away about what rights we have to be competing in this league. I want success as much as any city fan but we are in a very tough league that pretty much every week throws up bottom teams taking points off top teams. We are where we are, people need to calm the frig down and give the manger time to try and get the squad firing (without a proper striker)
As long as he is given the same amount of time as Rosenior and Robins that's a fair way to compare them.
I was getting excited there till I saw the date. I’d love Robins. He might also teach some of our lot how to score because he certainly knew how to.
I agree - but wasn't this a reason for keeping Rosenior too? We're arrogant to expect any kind of success - but it'd also be arrogant to expect us not to fall into relegation trouble. Especially now we have two long term injuries in our already weak attacking line up. We need a bit of pragmatism - which I don't think Walter is prepared for.
Life under Rosenior was boring as hell to me and thankfully Acun saw it the same way. I'm happier watching this team that Roseniors team. That's just my opinion.
I'm not going to argue with that as its your opinion, but if we continue in the same vein of form a change will have to be made at some point. Its up to Walter to change people's minds now.
For anyone interested in the 'championship experience' debate. https://thetilehurstend.sbnation.co...erience-matter-when-hiring-manager-reading-fc
Jim whats your views on what he said about the fans? i personally think he's gone past the point of no return and he'll do well to see another 3 games never mnd 3 years. Unless he can produce a miracle
Not sure taking someone so quickly who has 1) just been sacked, and 2) been at a club for such a long time, is that wise.
Someone has already posted that our xg is 6th best. A blind man could see the first halves against Burnley and Oxford and the wins, especially QPR, showed what this squad and system are capable of. We've had some bad luck, we've got some dud strikers and we've had a couple of off days (or even off halves) but it's hardly panic stations time to sack the manager. As with the wider world nowadays everybody wants instant gratification. Click their fingers and get what they want. It's time to buckle in and get behind the players. I'm sure an atmosphere on Sunday would help a young squad start to feel more at ease.
I understand your point and to many fans they will think he is a dick for 'slagging them off'. But I listened to that interview and I took it as him saying 'yes I heard the boos but I also heard no backing at other times'. In his second language I believe he was simply saying that this is a young side that needs the fans behind it to help it grow. Booing has never improved any players performance. It's time for people to back the boys and let Acun make a call when he sees fit.
