Sorry Spanish and Big Al, but there is a superstitious side of me that believes somebody else has to make a pre-match thread, in the hope of getting our first win of the season! I'll do the honours in a match we're unlikely to win. Spurs have been so inconsistent this season that they're predictably consistent. Bear with me - typically, they win at home and lose away. Sod's law our first match against them this season is in London! Reasons to be optimistic? We've played quite well the last couple of games. The defence looked significantly more solid against Leicester - but was that because we were playing against a fellow promoted side? Ange's Spurs have a whirlwind of an attack, making them vulnerable to counters but also means we're highly likely to concede. A potential positive is that the last two matches they've played after a Thursday Europa League match - they've lost. Albeit both those losses were away from home. Hopefully we can take advantage of some tired legs? I think I'd keep the same starting eleven that played against Leicester, with the suspended Phillips making way for Cajuste. Start Hutchinson, Chaplin, Szmodics, and Delap from the beginning and get those quick counters in early. Maybe a couple of first-half goals would knock their confidence ... or it could be another Brentford! I'm not going into this with much hope - a 3-1 Spurs win.
Totally agree with all that Nuggets, keep the same line up with Cajuste coming in. Can't see anything other than a drubbing, 5-1 spurs (chappers for us)
I will ride with Nuggets superstitious and give this an impossibly, unlikely win on the road. Quite mad, 2-1 Ipswich, our away support goes mental.
No worries Nuggets,I don't do the superstition thing myself but understand some have faith in it! I'm going to try and keep positive and hope we put in battling performance earning another 2-2 draw. COYB!!!
They do blow hot and cold. Absolutely awful away at Palace then brilliant against Villa. 4 2 defeat.we go 1 nil up, then concede 4 then a late consolation goal.
I'm not sure the dynamic of Szmodics playing on the left and Delap uptop together quite works, having said that Szmodics, Chaplin and Hutchinson were very good in the press. He often found himself in space on the left wing which isn't his best position, with Hirst in the team he was finding more pockets of space in an around the penalty box plus Hirst is better at pressing than Delap. So for me we either bring Hirst in or in particular change the left forward, though neither Burns or Clarke have overly impressed recently. Maybe I'd move Omari on the left and Burns on the right as Tottenham play a high line so we need players to get in behind. Other than that keep the same team with Cajuste coming in.
I see Town will be wearing pink, their 3rd colours, against Spurs. Surely different colours cause confusion on the field.
Witty Hampy! I meant 1st time in link strip will take them a while to adjust. Still, we havent won in Blue or Red, so lets see if Pink can get us a win.
You're making the assumption that we'll have ten outfield players. I'm sure the referee and VAR will have something to say about that
Results around us are going about as well as they could. A thumping win at Spurs and we’re up and running.
