I would have thought Robins had plenty of credit in the bank after all he has done for them… shocking decision
Coventry fans are furious. I think the owner has been looking to do this since the summer when he removed Robins' back room staff and replaced them with coaches not chosen by Robins. He'll be back in work in no time. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if we see another 'surprise' sacking soon by a club who want Robins. Interested to hear @FellTop 's reaction.
be interesting to see the reaction from the Cov team on Saturday, will they play for the interim coach? will we get a massive win?
I think we’d have beaten Coventry anyway, they’re just not very good … … this won’t help them one bit. The Coventry fans will probably be throwing themselves down on the South Stand, instead of coins and bottles, he was their chubby little hero after all
I am not surprised by it, but do think it is a very unreasonable decision. Anybody would look at his record there and say it nothing other than very good. There were some real challenges over the summer. I actually thought Robins might walk at one point. They changed the backroom operation, and I dont think it was with Robins full blessing. He has shown an awful lot of loyalty to them at times, and maybe in the summer a bit too much. I dont think this will damage his reputation at all inside the game. I think he will be patient now and wait for the right sort of opportunity. He will want a club who commit to a long term plan, not a **** or bust one. It may well be the summer before he comes back into the game and I suspect he will be interviewing any owners as much as they interview him. Good luck to him, one of my favourite coaches in the modern game.
He’s had some good results but lost at home to Derby, Sheff Wed and Swansea iirc, that’s poor by any standards. Home defeats always seem to be the trigger, it’s when the board feel most under pressure. It’s the erratic nature of the results that’s hard to understand, they beat Boro away 3-0. I appreciate what you’re saying but he’s looked really gloomy and inert recently, jaded is the word. With the amount he’s paid that’s just not on.
The timing is interesting. With a IB coming up,why bullet Robins now rather than after our match. A plausible answer may be that if they did happen to beat us,they would find it harder to get rid.
