My kid brought his dog round Sunday, massive great big thing, like a dulux dog lol...not one of those but that sort of size....might be mountain...something.
Great night but I again have to stress that Cardiff is ****ing grim. The amount off locals just standing around getting drunk and/or high is ridiculous. There was a bloke dressed fairly tidy other than the Arsenal top who looked like he was having an OD on the floor outside a shop on one of the main streets, his mates were laughing finding it hilarious. No police anywhere near the place.
Three people got on the train and whipped out Tupperwares of curry. Just munching away stinking the place out. Bring back corporal punishment.
Exactly what I experienced when dropping my son off at Uni there a few weeks back. St Mary's Street and the surrounding bits are ****ing awful. It used to be ok ish, but the pedestrianised it and made it into a 'strip', and it's just horrible. I've always said the place is a ****e hole, never got it in the 30+ years I've been round these parts, it's always been a bit Emperors New Clothes. Some half decent restaurants now though at least, I suppose. Although Swansea knocks it to **** as far as that's concerned anyway.
Luv's account was a reminder of just how much I dislike town centres in the evenings. Even PZ down here, in the day a bustling market and fishing town, with a good range of independent shops and cafes etc. In the evening, whilst there are a few decent restaurants, most of the town is just a horrible pissed up hole full of lads up to their eyeballs in coke and homeless people drinking in shop foyers. There used to be a couple of decent small clubs in PZ that showcased up and coming live music. And a place called the Arts club that was a boho retreat with big leather sofas where people would bring you cocktails and absinthe, whilst you watched some live acoustic set. All gone now because the council wouldn't renew their licences.
The street I mentioned Cardiff was day time though. It's a proper hole that area, and it used to be the main shopping street with department stores (now closed) and Victorian arcades off it. The arcades still exist, the main street itself is horrible. As are most British city centres. Places like Manchester and Bath being the exceptions.
It was mid afternoon that I was there, broad daylight and these idiots just standing about like they own the place..
