Well you cannot recieve much more of a glowing tribute than that from the fan of a previous club.

I tend to take more notice of people who speak with such eloquent and articulate fluency as opposed to those whom are unable to muster up much more than a sentance or two of vitriol.

I suggest that this article provides us with a true and balanced insight into the qualities of Martin O'Neill.

If Sir Niall came back to Sunderland to experience the atmosphere that he once played within, come Blackburn at home, he will be smiling.

It was a good read and so were the comments so far; I know we want to hear good things but when fans of a club a manager has left still have really good things to say it just adds to the positive buzz we're feeling.

Cracking read and very well written, i wish i'd stuck in at school.

For the last 12 months i've been stuck in the doldrums as a Sunderland fan, now i am once again filled with optomism and looking forward to watching the transformation of our great club.

Come on Martin, sign the bloody contract.

It obviously comes as no surprise to me if is so highly thought of. I have said most villa fans only called Mon after if left. This "he plays boring football" crap is a falsehood. He plays winning football and that's just fine by me.

I wrote an article yesterday saying this is our Brian Clough moment. We missed out on him 35 years ago. Today we have the chance to right that wrong.

I'm still in total shock we have got him but its the kind of shock that puts permanent grins on faces.

Whilst MON was not my 1st choice by any stretch, I am starting to get a hard on.

    A really excellent article.

The one warning therein for me is MON's understanderable reaction to overly critical and unrealistic fans, coupled of course to eventual issues with the club's spending policy.

For the best possible results we need a top drawer manager; tick (almost), a committed owner and board; tick, ground, academy infrastructure; tick, and a realistic, loud and supportive fan base; the MON appointment is clearly one that is galvanising us after a fractious final chapter in Bruce's reign - so as of now; tick, let's keep it that way, Ha'way the lads.
