Exactly that, he's got a ton of criminal charges against him. If he wins, they disappear. So he's got a huge personal vested interest in this. Israel will want Trump, as they know he'll give them exactly what they want. Harris will support Israel, but she'll hold them to account over civilian deaths in Gaza. Ukraine want Harris, as they know Trump will give Putin what he wants. Which is for Ukraine to concede land to Russia. Trump says he will 'end the wars', but as Harris put it, it's not a plan for peace, it's a plan for Ukraine to surrender. I used the analogy before, it's like the teacher saying they are going to end playground bullying, by giving the bully the right to take what he wants and telling the victim you won't do a damn thing about it.
I wonder if Europe (inc UK) would go it alone against Putin, IF Trump did get in, and inevitably pally up with him.
I think Harris will win quite comfortably, but I seem to be wrong more often than I’m right about this things. Another Trump presidency would be a disaster for the world imo, but it would also be entertaining. America seems to be unraveling anyway, hard to see how it holds together tbh.
Yeah can see there being huge issues over there no matter what way it goes. Will be interesting to watch from afar just how bad things get.
It will take attention away from our new Government while the world holds its breath because as we know from previous history when America gets a cold Europe goes down with flu (or COVID) and if Europe does get into problems with Russia/China then America will come riding like the 7th Cavalry when it can make the biggest impact and America will be the worlds saviours yet again Trump seemed to be pro UK and Biden was against the UK or at least what he perceived the UK to be the senile old twat If Harris gets in will she see the UK as a long term friend or as a nuisance that might go cap in hand to America for help
Trump is definitely not pro Britain he just liked Johnson and Farage . He intends to whack big tariffs on all imports and since the US makes up a sizeable chunk of our export trade that is bad news dor us oh and weirdly iirc we have a trade surplus with them .
My thoughts tend to be along similar lines to Solid on this one. I've been a bit nervous about Trump getting in for precisely that reason, he seems to pander to the powerful and not care about anyone less than that status. I don't like drawing equivalence with Hitler as I find it very distasteful, but Trump is an out and out dictator in the making, and I really don't take any notice of media nonsense but more what he says and does himself, and that day at the Capitol building should serve as a warning in everyones memory - sometimes I try and excuse him, by saying he stops wars, but who for, the big man or the little man, and ive already answered that. However, I look at Kamala and I fear she may well jump on the Palestinian bandwagon, and that don't sit well with me either, unless the end goal is to ensure the safety of Israel forever (and respectfully saying, no I don't want to get in a war debate). so in short i don't trust either of them, and can't decide who is the bigger danger here, my brain says Trump, but I'm not comfortable with Kamala for some reason and my instinct is not often wrong....so we're all fooked whoever wins, and we just know this is going to get dragged out forever and a day.
Trump is definitely a little dictator in the making. Which is why he aligns himself with people like Putin and Kim Jong. When his own chief of staff was saying that he wants Generals around him like Hitler, that should tell you everything about his character. We've seen his contempt for the rule of law, like you say at the Capitol building, and his endless list of criminal charges. The guy is already a convicted felon, and how he's being allowed to run for office of the President again is beyond me. Even yesterday he was alluding to journalists getting shot at one of his rallies, and knowing his nutter supporters, that puts them immediately at risk of violence. In a nutshell, Trump exists for Trump, he'll do anything that he thinks will bolster himself and he'll align himself with anybody who he thinks will be loyal to him. And **** the consequences for anybody or anything that he thinks stands in his way. I think Kamala Harris is a safe pair of hands, but I don't know how radical she will be. So it will probably be more of the same from her. What I do think separates her out on the Israel/Palestine issue is that she will hold Israel to account for civilian deaths and she will have the power to leverage that with the US massive supply of arms to Israel. My hope is that she would seek to start negotiations around a two state settlement. Under a Trump administration, Palestine will effectively cease to exist, because he'll give Netanyahu what he wants, settlers will take over Gaza and Palestinians will become refugees around the world and Trump will claim it as a victory saying he ended the war.
If Trump loses and it's close. This ^^^ He will drag it all the way to the Supreme court where he knows his Republican supreme judges will shoehorn him into power.
When do we find out the result? Or at least the first result before Trump decides it was rigged unless he’s rigged it to win.
I'm not sure tbh, aren;t they quite slow in some states at announcing their results, so while most might come in, you might get one or two states outstanding for days, and it will depend how much the result relies on those states. For all we know Trump might rig it so one of the states holds back with the aid of his buddies, because I don't know if there is any time schedule to all this. Just what I vaguely remember from the last election. The only way we will know sooner is if somehow Kamala pulls off a landside with all her swiftie voters, oh no hang on, they would be too young to vote surely...election fraud!
Most of the States usually declare by around 3-4am our time. Unless they are close. Then starts the rigmarole of recounts, mail in ballots, checking machines etc etc. and that could potentially go on for weeks…
I aint staying up until that time. Going to be funny as fook if Trump wins, although the karma to that comes later, and that's not good
I've got a feeling he is going to win it. Folk will vote for him based on him saying he's going to close the borders and kick out all of the criminal immigrants, extend the anti abortion laws, etc along with a bunch of platitudes like Make America great again. And then they'll discover that once in, he'll give tax cuts to billionaires, rip up rules and regs designed to protect workers and consumers, impose massive tariffs and drive up inflation again and probs nuke Iran for bantz.
