No left field, experienced and good track record. The squad has the quality just use it right.

Walter being a bag of ****e and Rosie also being at fault whilst having all the tools and more for a top 6 finish can both be true.

What’s everyone’s definition of left field? There are plenty of managers on the continent who could come in and do a very good job, do people consider anyone without domestic as left field?

Someone with no experience in a decent league and/or a gimmicky "style". Walter's experience is fine, I would consider managing Hamburg and Stuttgart in BL2 as ample experience, if he played a more orthodox way

Yep. It sounded exciting. And easy to get the logic of going for a style that (supposedly) brings a competitive advantage. BUT it ain't working and it isn't some magic formula - in retrospect I can see that if it were then more clubs would have picked up on it having seen TW employing it in Germany! Tbf, similar with Rosenior. He bs'd us too (with his "unique style", his "philosophy" etc.)
I fall for it each time .....even though I also say a really good manager is one that gets the best out of what he has at his disposal (rather than stubbornly putting their "philosophy" first). Just give me a damn good manager, not the next bs'er.

What are the good signs? I could do with looking at some positives.

Completely agree with this. Most of the new players in terms of minutes still haven't had that long with each other. And yes, they obviously train together but these moments where the attacks fall apart are more often than not just wavelength issues. I honestly think we're generally doing enough in terms of creating good goalscoring opportunities. It's one of them final moments that keeps letting us down too often. The gameplay isn't perfect by any stretch but I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as some are making out. I also think we're about where most people would have expected/hoped we'd be this early in the season. If we can start to click a bit more and make a few tweaks we should start picking up more points, hopefully enough to begin to push on and look like more of a threat. Only a few weeks ago we looked capable, until we made some tweaks after a Norwich bumming.

Somone that gives us the formula for the players to use their creative freedom when applicable.

Some of these young managers playing the passing/ pressing style are more rigid than the likes of Pulis/ Megson approaches. Most of all a winning formula.

Or Steven pi55ing Schumacher who achieved the square root of frig all at Stoke and did a little more than that with Plymouth.

I'd like to see us give Tim and the players the time they need to gel but if Acun does bow to ridiculous fan pressure then surely we can find someone who has actually achieved more than keeping a side in the championship?

I think a lot of our fans need a reality check. Look at the clubs ahead of us in the table. At least 70% of them are former established premier league teams, perceived nationally as much bigger clubs than us. That's not to say we cannot compete with them but it's not going to happen overnight. We have a talented young squad, given time it can work with Walters system, I'm pretty sure of that and the first half against Burnley gave me more confidence that is the case. However this is the Championship, every week you face someone who can turn you over, rock bottom or not, the opponents are dangerous. It's not a comfortable learning ground and we need to be patient.

I think that held true until these last 2 games.
Given where we were at, and how patience was needed, we were generally unlucky to lose against Sunderland, and gave a reasonable account of ourselves v Burnley.
But instead of progressing, we've been disappointing these last 2 (understatement v Portsmouth!) whereas I was fully expecting this 'clicking' to be clearly visible. It's more like we're going backwards. That 2nd half in particular on Saturday was dire. Outfought, outthought and outplayed by bottom of the table Portsmouth. We're so predictable, the movement is mostly really poor, I'm not seeing the way of playing Walter believes in (bar perhaps Coyle appearing anywhere & everywhere), etc etc.
I suspect tomorrow night is huge for Walter. If there's not a positive response and really positive signs in these next 2 then I don't see him surviving as this is nothing like Acun will have been expecting by now.

As far as Coyle being all over the place I get the impression that's Coyle doing it his way, not TW's way. Like he's thinking sod this, the system isn't working, I'll do my own thing.

Anyone listened to the 1904 podcast, Baz referenced something slater had said that Tim doesn’t speak to the players 1 to 1. I got the impression slater had said or implied more but I didn’t hear his interview. Does anyone know what Baz was referring to?
