We got away with the blatant handball for the first goal
Great header by Wells for the second and a brilliant cross by Sykes and Birds finish was perfect
Keep the roll going lads !

I posted the highlights a bit earlier in the thread JGF - you can see the first goal in them.
The handball isn’t as clear though - there are other clips which show it better - like this one:

To be honest, although I admit I don’t blame the PNE fans for being angry, it’s not as if we won 1-0 with that being the only goal. THEN they would be justified in having a meltdown.
They fought back and equalised, so any change in the dynamics of the game would have been neutralised. PNE were on the ascendancy but we then scored 2 perfectly good goals to win the game.
The ‘fairer’ score would have been 2-1 to us. Annoying though it was for them, the only thing it affected was their goal difference, not the points.
I posted on OTIB about the Villa game where Weimann had 2 perfectly good goals ruled out for offside, Villa got a ridiculous penalty and ended up winning a game they should have lost 2-0.
Those points and GD if I remember correctly would have seen us in the playoffs that season.
Instead LJ got a written apology from the Referees Association.
We’ve been on the receiving end of more pain from those types of poor decisions than we’ve gained from them.

Fourth one this season two goals at Millwall offside, one goal disallowed at Burnley for an interesting interpretation of offside and yesterday

    I get your annoyance themaclad
I’d be angry too - and we HAVE been - on many occasions!!
That Villa game I mentioned above MAY have denied us a place in the Premiership. 3 howling errors in one game - and Villa end up getting promoted.
I wonder if Prince William bribed the officials………..

What’s your verdict on Sinclair Armstrong so far? Is he getting any game time?

I thought they were fortunate to have 11 players on the pitch as well. Only thing that counts ultimately is the final score.

clearly causes problems and take defenders out of the game but his goalscoring needs to improve hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later.

I’ve read similar to this on OTIB too.
Sadly the highlights don’t show much of the rest of the game so I can’t comment from a position of knowledge.

I hope he comes good because he clearly tries his hardest, but I kind of gave up on the goal scoring side. Mind you, none of our current team can score goals either.

Happens so quick and defo looks like could be a hand ball butis the hand /arm movement as a result of it possobly being or about to be held by the defender?
the hand ball goal looked at it loads of times now and difficult say yea or nae with positivity!

Defenders can not handle him his pace and strength are major assets-if he was a natural goalscorer he would be in the prem.

    Just to add;
Yes the final score stands and can’t be undone.
However, we see on numerous occasions, retrospective cards being issued, fines, bans (Diedhiou?) and also cards being rescinded.
If that tackle was as dangerous as you say then the guy should have a retrospective red card and the relevant match bans/fines that go with it.

I’m not even sure if that can be done, the ref saw the challenge and made a decision. I have to say I’m not a fan of retrospective action on the whole. The match is over, move on, that’s generally my view.
