The Maddison conundrum is a definite head scratcher. Not been in the best of form but is equally the one midfielder capable of making something from nothing with a pass or shot.

I'm with you on this. Sonny in particular looks no where fit enough and someone has just reminded me that Johnson is actually playing!
It’s like the Arsenal game. Lots of huff and puff but very little quality. Can’t wait to watch Martinez spend 30 minutes laying on the ground in the second half.
We're not giving Villa enough credit. They are where they are for a reason. Emery has them extremely well drilled and they are better in possession under pressure than almost anyone we've faced this season.

Lots of huffing and puffing when we break with the ball. We seem to cover ground and create decent attacking situations, but it just seems to amount to nothing. Really unconvinced by who ever seems to play in our front 3 these days. Johnson has had a decent spell recently, but no one else offers anything. I dread us conceding goals like we have today, because I find myself scratching my head how we’ll score more than 1 to win the game.

Yeah Brennan just seems one of those players where if he doesn’t score you’d never know he was on the pitch. Even during his purple patch his all round game was anonymous.
Good and instinctive finisher though, might be worth sticking him up front. Solanke just seems to think he’s a ball winning midfielder.
Absolutely amazed we didn't try to sign Amadou Onana in the summer. He's what our midfield needed imo.
