BTW, if any of you “Earl boys” can get me into the ground, give me a shout. I haven’t had a season ticket for a few years. Only managed five games last season, and it was the first time I never went to an away game for over 50 years. If anyone can sort me out, it’d be much appreciated.
That logic would mean I'd never be able to do anything, other than eat. So I wouldn't be able to type this.
Ultimately a great result, but the shades of Rafa were a concern in the sense of we can grab a win but not by being in the ascendancy. It just seems like we’re a “best of the rest” team which isn’t the same as being in the elite. We did the same to Spurs and City. Few games coming that will be more telling - Forest might be so confident they come at us, which is exactly what we want, so we could win that. But it’s what we do when we’re expected to win that’s the concern For today, Hall was ****ing awesome. Just 19 and already talking about how he should be englands left back. Tino also fantastic. We sat deep, it was as I say a Rafa performance. But the three points is good and we can take that into Forest. Cup still our best bet but time will tell if we’re really doing the business.
Mint is a stretch, was a good game plan but nothing we haven’t seen under Rafa. Our effort is like suggesting Bournemouth are now a CL club. We need to be realistic. i think we’ll still be waiting a long time before we get to come close to bullying or outplaying elite teams.
We played well, need to see it stretched out into a consistent run. Both games were at home, I'd like to see how we do at Forest away.
We might get lucky in the sense that Forest might come at us, which works for us. I am yet to see Newcastle United be a front foot force.
