If you read Pasoti we are well and truly fecked for this one. How much of a cricket score it's going to be is the only debate. Apparently we are currently 14/1 with the bookies so even they have given up. Not much point either travelling to see the match or mismatch and not worth even logging on on Saturday to follow it. Oh well never mind. I'm going for a win as seen in my prediction. Anyone else got the bottle?

Not looking good for Argyle Saturday.......SEVEN players not available.

    Injured.......Edwards, Galloway, Gibson, Hazard, Tijani.

Still out because of his straight red.....Cissoko.

Unable to play against his home club......Gyabi.

And not many back soon either......Gyabi and Cissoko will be available soon.

Just the time for Argyle to play a blinder with the riff raff left over.

Well, if you read the report from Themaclad (Preston fan) on last Saturday's came, he said " Issaka a handful gave KKH a hard time", so not entirely riff-raff as far as an independent observer was concerned. I thought he took his goal very well too... reacted quicker than his marker to get into space to retrieve the loose ball and curled into the net nicely. Cool as you like.

The defence got a hard time in the first half, not so much because of the absence of Gibson but because Preston pressed high, We also have the perennial problem of Mumba being much more an attacker than a full back. Great when it works going forward, not so good when you are under pressure.

However, the bad news is that Joe Edwards may be out until the New Year.

Also, Whittaker has got a couple in the last few matches. Not screamers but they all count. He hasn't been on his best form but if he can score a few more, scruffy or sensational, that would be a move in the right direction.

Luton's point last night has dumped Argyle into a relegation place even before we play Leeds.

It seems a long season already.....1 goal for and 13 against and one point away from home....has it ever been worse than that.....add four key players out for todays match against one of the best home records in the league.....and it makes my 45 minute prediction for the first goal look rather foolish.

Listen very carefully. I will say this only once (more).

Having watched 90 minutes of all the home games and perhaps a third of the away games live or on TV, I can tell you that we have some good players and crucially enough class up-front to trouble the best teams in this league. We have some good players, more than capable of competing in this league.

If it were not so, I would have told you.

In my amateur opinion, we need to give ourselves a an option to play in a more robust defensive way when the need arises. When 1-0 up with 15 minutes to play or in the first 15 minutes (or perhaps more) of difficult away games. I’d point particularly at the role of the full backs and the number of defensive midfielders. Jordan Houghton has hardly got a kick this season and I think it’s about time Houghton and Randell get a run out together. That combination served us pretty well in recent seasons.

Consistency does seem be a problem. One minute, we’re beating Sunderland and Blackburn and the next losing heavily to Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday. I think that supports the argument for a more robust and less mercurial set-up.

Maybe Rooney needs to adapt to playing away matches.....change in approach required.......far too open to counter attacks.....needs to find a option two and very soon......
Our minus goal difference is now a point against us which is putting us in a relegation position.
Needs to toughen up midfield with some ball winners.

Grimshaw, Mumba, Ogbeta, Houghton, Pleguezuelo, Szucs, Hardie, Forshaw, Sorinola, Roberts, Palsson.

    Subs
Marosi, Whittaker, Wright, Obafemi, Bundu, Gray, Al Hajj, Issaka, Finn.

Not sure about that line up....only Hardie up front ?

    No Randell ?

We usually play with one up front Plym. I don't think this will be the formation though.

    upload_2024-11-2_14-46-58.png

    More likely something like::

    Sorinola Pleggy, Szucs, Palsson, Ogbeta

    Houghton, Forshaw, Roberts

    Hardie Mumba

Is this a sign of Wayne Rooney throwing some toys out of the pram?

    Seems it’s a 4:5:1

Sorinola at LB, Palsson at RB

Mumba and Ogbeta as the wide midfielders.

Yes 3 scrappy goals it would seem, the second after a clearance rebounds off Palsson to another Leeds player.

    Three goals nevertheless.

Gray on for Ogbeta so 4:4:2 presumably. A bit academic presumably……
