Is he good enough for a step up to Championship or is he another Alex Mitchell type that is just an average league 1 player?
Not yet good enough for the Championship, and highly unlikely to play there for us under this ownership.
More chance of him going abroad than ending up in the Championship. Having said that, I am certain he's going nowhere till next summer IF he scores goals.
Reading the comments from our fans at the game today, Leaburn doesn’t seem happy “A shadow of the player he was” is one comment on his performance today. Once again, he looked clumsy, lethargic & disinterested. Bad judge @ElfsborgAddick reckons on CL that we won’t get a fee for him in January , a thought that will have Methven dashing to Sketchleys. Maybe he wants out ? Very disappointing to hear about him disrespecting the away fans today … his Mum should have a word with him, she’s not normally short of a few.
If Leaburn is unhappy because he wants a move and if that mood is spoiling his form, presumably he will have people putting the word around to other people at Clubs who might want to buy him. Sadly the prospect of buying him and his potential for a relatively modest fee will outweigh their noting the character weakness of allowing dissatisfaction to affect how well he plays at the moment. Sadly in this modern age moody footballers usually get what they want. Those are two significant ifs in my first line though. I don't know if either if is correct. But it seems a logical speculation. Could it be though that Leaburn simply isn't properly fit again yet?
“Leaburn potentially the best we have had since Lookman” according to a poster on our sister forum. ‘Potentially’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting here - Lookman has just scored the winner for a team that sits top of Serie A. I don’t see ML hitting such career heights.
Miles is still a young man. I don’t know what is going on with him at the moment. Whether he is fit or not. He may just be sick and tired of the way the team is told to play. But his body language is not good. I think it is just a matter of when he goes.
It’s probably in keeping the mood of deflation that we all feel, but the current crop of youngsters is not a good one. TC & Anderson have real technical limitations.
But the current crop of U21s like Enslin, Casey, Mbick,,Hunter, Bower; Kedwell, Mwamba, Fullah: Rylah, are excellent and technically good. We are beating Academy’s like QPR by 5 and 6 goals. Playing good passing football with width. The U21s are so far removed from the first team. The whole Club should play in the same style. If any U21s are put into the first team they go from slick passing football to hoofball. Dixon has scored five goals in two games yet he doesn’t get a sniff of the first team. Not even as sub yet he keeps on picking players like A Campbell. I would suggest that all Charlton supporters go to a few U21 games.
Saying he's the potentially the best we've had since Lookman does not necessarily mean Leaburn could be anywhere near as good as Lookman. Taken literally, it simply means Leaburn is arguably better than anyone else we've produced since Lookman. Like saying our 1-0 win over Burton is the best league result we've had since we beat Birmingham. The Burton victory was feeble compared to the Birmingham win, but was a little better than any other result inbetween.
Leaburn has all the attributes big, good feet and a bit of pace for a big man. He will go on to bigger and better things when he leaves this Fred Karno Club. Whether he is as good as Lookman is immaterial.
