Just finishing a Vielle Ferme Red. £8.50 in your local CoOp, £3.50 on a Brittany Ferries boat! Got ten boxes in the shed.
It's OK for £3.50 a bottle! The Rose is the best, it's pretty ****ing good. The red, I agree, is average. The white sits between.
Mrs Chief experimented by doing a Nadiya 'recipe' for meringue, using chick pea juice instead of egg white. But didn't actually follow the recipe. So, essentially, made it up. It didn't work.
Not tried the rose. The white I didn’t like. Not often I drink white wine. Should drink it more often as doesn’t give me a hangover. Where as 3/4 pints then some red wine is a nailed on banging head.
Lemon meringue is a favourite. Actually next on my list to make. See the dinner thread .. love a good meringue.
She did this pavlova last weekend which was borderline the best I've eaten. And used eggs, funnily enough. Why **** about?
Love a pavlova as well. top desserts in no particular order raspberry pavlova Lemon meringue Baked lemon cheesecake Treacle tart. worse desserts trifle Tiramisu Black Forrest gateau
Tiramisu done right is lovely. But most of the slop served up in pubs or bought in shops is just that. Out of your top 4 I would go Baked Lemon Cheesecake or Basque Lemon Cheesecake Lemon Meringue Treacle Tart and Key lime pie deserves a shout
**** yes key lime pie is amazing. I can’t order them. I love them all. I’m also partial to a good apple pie. Or a rhubarb one. as to tiramisu. I like coffee. I just don’t like anything other than coffee that tastes of coffee.
Sticky Toffeee Pudding. Bread and butter pudding (done with Panettone). Either with a decent vanilla ice cream.
Bread and butter pudding was the first thing I ever cooked. I do like a good bread and butter pudding. Not sure I’ve tried one with panettone.. have done with brioche which was very good. not a fan of sticky toffee pud.
Have now stuck BBC 4 on. Fleetwood Mac gig from the 90's. Time to go! Getting all the 'who's that?' questions. And yes, Christine McVey is actually dead.
