Good Morning. It's Friday 1st November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Are the walking wounded off on International break Call me sceptical, but Max Wober's return to full training on Tuesday has coincided nicely with the next International Break in a fortnight when Kazakhstan host Austria! The versatile defender has been restricted to just 63 minutes of game time all season, thanks in part to the knee injury he sustained during September's Nation League games for his Country; the same (or at-least connected compliant) he had been carrying over Pre-season and the early parts of the current campaign). It's not just Wober we need to worry about. Dan James and Manor Solomon have both spent considerable time on the sidelines recently, yet are vital parts of their Countries set-up. It has been suggested that the Euro play-off loss between Wales and Poland last March had a detrimental effect on the Leeds contingent (Ampadu, James, Rodon and Roberts) both physically and mentally. Those extra 120 minutes of game time, followed by penalty shoot-out heartache, may have had a detrimental effect on Leeds promotion charge - you only need to look at their results post March 26th. Many don't realise, but this is where Joe Rodon picked up his back injury, and spent the remainder of the season having pain killing injections before kick-off. Should Leeds put their foot down and prohibit players who are not 100% fit to go on International Breaks. Whilst this is not a unique problem, Farke's superior squad means that Leeds are effected more than any other Championship outfit. please log in to view this image Is Farke under pressure to recall Joseph Leeds will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday against a Plymouth side who have already conceded 13 goals from their last six games on the road. The Whites have been slightly off the pace since spanking the Blades a fortnight ago. A goalless draw at Bristol City, preceded by a narrow 2-1 home win (curtesy of two absolute goal-keeping howlers) against Watford doesn't do Daniel Farke's side justice. Leeds have been dominating games, without racking up big wins. They've mustered 199 shots at goal, scoring 19 giving them an average of less than a goal every 10 shots. Had they taken more of their chances, we'd be runaway leaders by now! Who should spearhead Leeds forward line against Plymouth. please log in to view this image
Morning all. I wouldn't let any of the internationals travel. The problem however, most internationals take playing for their countries very seriously and some rate it above playing for their clubs. If you stop players travelling you'll soon lose most of those players and find yourself with a squad like Millwall or the like to choose from
Morning all Max can’t be anywhere near match fit, refuse him to travel, he won’t be permitted to feature for us the following weekend but at least we’ll have him ready for the busy December schedule
Morning everyone surely it wouldbe better to let wober travel and train with Austria because they would probably not use him anyway.
To be honest, if the players in question are not match fit and you could tell by Dan James getting caught up with on the counter attack then I’d let them go and play, they’re not going to get match fit by staying and not playing for two weeks. How Bamford is injured again I’ll never understand, he’s only had a few minutes on the pitch.
Afternoon all I was watching One Leeds Channel on YouTube, where Conner and Gabe were discussing exactly this whether we should have Joseph or Piroe up front. For me that is the wrong discussion because both are forwards and not strikers, but Farke plays them as strikers. I think the style of play Farke plays requires a striker ala Beckford, Viduka, Haaland etc. up front and not a forward. If we are going to play with forwards, then in my opinion we should play with two up front. As forwards play best as a pair and we don't have strikers, I would have played 442, 4411, 352 or 3511. Considering all the injuries we have, it would have had to be 442 or 4411. Could maybe have played 433 with Piroe as a hanging forward. What do you think?
I'd play Joseph. Piroe has had a few games to make the position his own. There has to be consequences for not grabbing that chance. Over to Joseph to grab it. There's always the possibility of giving it back to Piroe if Joseph fails. Competition for places is good. If we get to January and nobody has staked a claim then dip in to the transfer market.
Agree. Bamford misses more. Piroe scores chances but doesn't seem to get as many opportunities. Farke has to let them know that they have to fight for that position or we'll get someone new in January to do it. There should be no ****ing about this season.
If we want promotion then we don’t have time to allow Joseph to be like Bamford mk2. We can’t afford to develop him in the heat of battle.
The only choice we have is Piroe, Joseph or Bamford until January. Nothing personal with Bamford but his time is passed.
I think Bamford’s body is shot, I’m hoping Southampton are desperate enough to take a punt on him in January (if the rumours are true), so yes only leaves the other two. Personally I believe Piroe is the better finisher so Farke needs to find a tactic to get him on the end of the chances we make.
Plenty of players out there that are currently not used that much by their clubs. You have the U.S market as they finish their season in January. I'm not a scout but there would be options out there.
Okay. Petar Musa. 26 year old Croatian International striker. 16 goals in 30 games this season. Value is around £8 million. Ex Benfica player. Presses hard, good in the air, has good pace and defends from the front. Has really kicked on in the last couple of years. That took me five minutes and I don't work in the game. There are options.
