Nyoni still work in progress but looks very comfortable on the ball. Was a lovely pass into Diaz into the box soon after he came on through a small gap

Strange game that one. The first half felt like a friendly almost, with both teams faffing around a bit at the back and a lack of urgency.
Livened up in the second but disappointing to concede two.

Better than a dull 2-0 lol.

The second salah and nunez got on we were playing with 9 men plus 2 on a loosening warm up.

Gakpo goals were class. Jaros made 2 good saves and a third that probably he should he putting way from goal.

Quansah running off with the ball to nowhere then making a stupid back pass then having a deflection off a lazy close down says to me that he is now out of klopp's "rhythm" and will struggle with his form until he can get a few games strung together

    Is the draw tomorrow?

I'm not bother to play the sky "draw coming shortly" crap for a half hour.

    Lfc
    Man utd
    Newcastle
    Arsenal
    Maybe palace
Probably city when spurs go spursy
    Southampton
    Brentford

The dodgy draw will now look to make a tie of tje round then preserve as many big names for the semis

Last year we played arsenal, will we get man utd away?

Thought Jaros and Gakpo were the stand out players. Morton's pass for Gakpo's second was very Gerrard. Mitoma is a class player and in a better team would cause chaos in the opposition defence. Nice win, but bet we get Utd next round who have now started to play now that the players have got rid of Ten Hag

Decent result,a few mistakes but that's to be expected with a hotch potch team.Gakpo finishing was class.3rd choice goalie was decent enough.

Thought Morton looked very tidy but Nyoni looks a real talent .Quansah is now 4th choice CB at best by the looks of it . Gakpo the stand out player

Gakpo has real venom on those strikes from cutting in. When he gets the accuracy very hard to stop.

Can tell Morton very comfortable in the ball. Just the way he takes it and passes it, looks very natural to him if that makes sense.

Just not sure he has the physicality to play CM in the prem for top top team in that 6 role. Gravenberch although not a typical physical DM is 6 foot plus and has a presence around him.

    Great draw.

The classic "tie of the round" and we get Southampton away

Can always be worse when you draw the worst side in the competition <laugh>

Glad we're at home though. Hopefully you lot play a second string and we can make it semi competitive at least.

Hmmm, guessing you've not watched much of us this season mate. Though we did beat City at this stage two years ago while we were also ****e, albeit we're much worse this season.

Long way away yet though, more than possible we have a new manager by then.

Not much, but in the two or three games I have seen you weren't too bad. It only needs a team to be a little bit lacking in vital areas for them to get into a long string of bad results.

All that matters in cup games at this stage is winning and not picking up any injuries, we did both so job done. All three of our goals were superb and both of theirs were gifts from us which wasn't the best but it happens, Quansah switched off and tbf that's probably his lack of game time.

Yeah, it was a bit of a mess but more entertaining than watching a dull 1-0 play out.

It's a shame for quansah as he's set himself back a lot but jaros has proved himself to few hopefully.

I don't think we learned anything new but we will be headed to the qf with the same sort of team if everyone stays fit.

The slowness of passing and lack of pass option was stark without gravenberch there so you have to appreciate him even more in absentia.

Well the other thing is that Quansah alongside Virgil is an entirely different prospect. With regard to the passing, I saw slower passing in terms of timing but the passes themselves, between players, were very crisp. As for Jaros, he's another excellent keeper. Looks alert, physical and totally commands his area.

It's the midfield in front that's the issue. The extra touches or two slows the thing down and the ball goes back to them

The thing I did notice was a very much slower pace to get out wide from both cbs to give the keeper thst first pass. They were not as crisp at that either which is also down to not playing.

I agree that our game plan overall, not just last night, has gone from heavy metal rhythm to slow, slow, quick, quick, slow ( is that waltzing, I'm not quite sure). Waltzing (through defences) might actually be a good plan.
