MON sure likes to talk a good game, especially when he's a pundit sitting on the BBC couch for a big game. But we'll all see just what he is made of in the coming season(s). Don't think I've ever seen a set of supporters swing from such despair to ecstasy in the space of a few days. And that's coming from a newcastle fan

Got to be honest had my doubts though wasn't convinced about anyone the second Jol ruled himself out. Said for a while that I didn't think he was the right guy for them.

Never particularly thought of O'Neill has a long ball team, and he did have good moments at Villa but the collapse in the 08/09 season was hardly world class, especially when Ashley Young, Carew and Agbonlahor were playing out of their skins.

I have a good feeling about MON, and your username has made me think that he could be just the secret ingredient we have been looking for to take us to the next level...

I mean come on lads we all know we would have taken him over Pardew but not now. The fact is he'll give the place a lift and they do have some good players but are lacking in confidence. It's so like what happened to us but chose unwisely and too late.

I keep hearing they have good players but they bought quite a few who were in relegated teams last year - Vaughan, Gardner and Larsson to name a few. That doesn't necessarily mean those players are poor but their biggest problem stemmed from when Bent left last year. And since then they've lost Welbeck and Gyan and replaced them with Bentnob who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. Oh ain't life sweet? :cheesy:

    Is he still alive?

Dunno, look at this way he is miles better then Brucey, whether he can perform on a lowish budget will be his biggest test..But whether you like his style or not he will get alot more points then Brucey would have done!

    who heskey ............................................... <run>

serious note he is a good manager not a fan of his style of play but he gets the job done, said it already on here there is nothing more i'd love than the north east to be as strong as the north west when it comes to football. This area's crying out for it we just need to stop having the mentality of being obsessed with each other and being top dog in the north east and look to being top dog in the country.

Thread Summary... If you disagree with a Mackem about O'Neill, you are an idiot and know nothing as well as being bitter.

Martin O'neill will buy a big target man and play hoof football, the mackems will turn on him, just like they did with... Peter Reid... Roy Keane and Steve Bruce's. He'll be out of there in two years imo.....<somersault>

He's a better manager than Alan Pardew.

Only time will tell whether he does as well at Sunderland as Pardew has done at Newcastle however. I simply can't take anything away from what Pardew has achieved during his tenure at Newcastle so far.
