I find them incomprehensible. I've watched some with my kids, and whilst I admit, my attention span is not what it used to be, I generally haven't a clue what is going on. Seems to be a mass of different characters (that no doubt have some significance to most viewers) that pop up all the ****ing time. For example, something is happening, some sort of peril or jeopardy, and then some strangely coloured enlargened human/animal thing arrives and ****ing intervenes. Madness, but quite boring madness for me.
Yeah I have finished Joan - not too bad, worth a watch. Also finished Lincoln Lawyer season 3 this week - probably the best season yet IMO.
Watching Bodkin on Netflix. Didn’t think I was going to enjoy it that much during first episode but have enjoyed it more as I have got more into it.
Agree, I'm watching it from the good reviews as not normally into the comic books, The Penguin is brilliant and Farrell is phenomenal, on a par with Pacino, DeNiro and Gandolfini, then Cristin Milioti equals his performance. Recommended.
Just finished Season 2 of ''The Old Man'', its on FX and is a real slow burner of intrigue, double crosses and espionage; it will leave plenty behind but is REALLY worth sticking with, great performances from veteran actors, Jeff Bridges, John Lithgow and Janet McTeer - 15 episodes over 2 Seasons, check it out gents!
I did season 1 of The Old Man, and then got to episode 2 of Season 2 and stopped as it got a little bit far fetched for me - guy in his 80's killing the Taliban. I'll probably pick it back up
Ditto, the yanks can really **** up a good ting… I will definitely revisit at some point but just been informed that “ Dexter “ is a great watch, my grandson pointed me in that direction. I looked at it but a mass killer that only kills those that deserve it seemed a bit **** to me. I’ll give it 3/4 episodes..
I loved Dexter right till the end of Season 4 when they did something that pissed me right off, I was gutted - so gutted that I went from watching 2 episodes at a time to not watching it since; I'm sure that I will it eventually get back to it - the bastards!!!!
Some series are better than other with Dexter. Brilliant when at its best. John Lithgow was excellent in his series. His best work since Harry and the Henderson's. Though I think that's the series spes is talking about. It is a gut wretching ending.
I agree, they should have ended series 4 differently, but still a very good programme. Oh, and Dexter is a naughty boy. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Not a Netflix type thing, but my wife was watching DIY SOS yesterday. A programme where they go and improve the houses of people with problems, normally nominated by their neighbours. Yesterday it was a gay couple, looked in their forties. They had for some years been fostering people. Didn’t catch why but they decided to adopt one lad with cerebral palsy who has to use an electric mobility chair to get around but can communicate in a fashion and use ipads and the like.Theybdidn’tnknow if they would be able to carry on fostering but were asked to foster two sisters. One was down’s syndrome, very severe and the other perfectly healthy. They had been taken off their parents, no hair due to malnourishment and infested with lice. They fostered them and found out because of the disability of one they could well be separated if taken back into the system so adopted them. They also have another young boy there, 4 or. 5 completely confined to a wheelchair and not able to communicate. There was no room, everyone was on top of each other, the equipment and medications took up a huge space. In 9:days the volunteers transformed it inside and out to a brilliant place, pulleys going into each room for the elder lad with cerebral palsy, special toilets and bathrooms and the large garden into a playground. Don’t mind admitting when the down’s syndrome girl who had never had a room of her own looked round and said”this is mine” and jumped on the bed and curled up brought a tear to my eye. What a wonderful couple of blokes and deserving of all the work the volunteers put in,
DIY SOS is great for exercising the waterworks, it's very watchable! I'm not totally convinced that the work they do is all done in the timescale they say, I'm sure a lot of work is done before and after to get it all completed but that's by the by, the beneficiaries are real as are their reactions, and it's great tv!
