Yeah mate, sounds feasible, 3 clubs chasing him but all 3 then turned him down Kind of suspect it was the other way around with who turned who down
Just read about Madrid having a hissy fit because one of their players didn’t win a pointless individual trophy
Go and read the news reports from April. Chelsea turned him down. We had him 3rd on our shortlist behind Alonso and Slot and West Ham passed on him as well. It's all there if you want to go and look. Sky Sports 27 April : "Why Liverpool picked Slot over Amorim". Amorim ticked several requirements but his playing approach- particularly using three at the back - and long term vision did not fit the current squad nor the philosophy implemented through all age groups at Liverpool. The club already judged Arne Slot as the better football fit as well as superior communicator and connector.
No chase involved. You start with a longlist, narrow it down to a shortlist and then pick the best fit. Why do you think clubs picking managers have more than one on their list? We didn't want him, neither did Chelsea, West Ham and Bayern who actually chose Kompany over him
Do you have a more feasible explanation as to why he never got one of those jobs, or are you saying he was never considered in the first place?
If he had applied for those jobs and failed to get any i would worry, since you all went to him i can only assume it was his choice to say no. He could well do the same to us because he is already in a good job and doing really well, why take a risk and move to a harder league that he knows less about.
I don't know much about the details so this is a genuine question not a wum - could it not be a process whereby there were several candidates considered and he was amongst those eliminated? That seems a fairly reasonable and routine way to go about things to me, and I see no reason to disbelieve it in the absence of evidence to the contrary. It doesn't mean he applied and failed, or that he turned them down - just that he was never offered the job after a number of options were investigated.
Your opinion is way too sensible for here for us he’s a reject, for Diego he’s a messiah. Leave it there and let it roll
Only one offer was made by lfc. That was to slot. After that any discussion of amorin is in the camp of rumour and counter rumour. It was rumoured that his antics with West ham turned us completely off I think take it from the horses mouth at the time and leave the rest to banter https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/ruben-amorim-liverpool-manager-agreement-32564873 Amorim says there was not interview or talks so whether he was covering his arsenal with sporting fans is unknown but he did say there was no offer therefore he could not be a "reject" of nor have "rejected" lfc. I wish him all the usual luck in the world dealing with thr massive mess and hapless squad thst he inherits. He will need it.
From what I recall, Amorin was actually ahead of Slot on our shortlist but he refused to change from his preferred 343 formation so we decided to move on to the next guy (Slot). Liverpool recruitment isn't based on the manager. Yes, the manager as input but we recruit in a way that always us to move forward and continue with progression no matter who the manager is. Unlike Man Utd who appoint a guy and completely start again each time.
As I posted he made a direct comment that there was no interview or approach so I can only presume he is not a total liar. I'd assume that yes we went for slot as he would not want 20new players to play a new way. I'd assume amorim will buy 20 players at utd cos they have a heap of ajax crap to get rid of.
