Same here , they were particularly good on the counter down the flanks plus a never say die attitude throughout the team, reading their supporters comments they were missing a few players who may have put on a better show attack wise , even so they did at least try to play football within the rules which is more than can be said of Luton. All in all it was a brilliant performance by us so soon after the battle/fight at Luton and I hope they get a few wins in the near future especially if in doing so they send the Luton scumbags straight into their true home L1.
They are hard to gauge. They offered nothing on Saturday but then we were so slick I think many would have struggled. That might have been a 4-5 against a better side that came at us. They’ve looked competitive generally, I don’t think there’s any really woeful sides in the league this year though so they gonna have to turn up. Even Pompey and QPR who are really struggling have at least a bit about them.
Just looked at QPR fixture list. Burnley just played Sunderland Leeds Boro. That is one very unkind fixture computer!
I have watched a few of his pod casts and he seems fairly balanced in his opinions. Think he is an Oxford fan as well.
Anyone know if the lad who does the youtube match analysis has done the Luton or Oxford games yet? Great insight into the games, and points out things I would never have thought of.
It's Rigg, yes. But it's at least as much about how good Jobe is in the middle of midfield. I'd argue its more about that tbh. His performance in there means he absolutely must be playing a bit deeper. This leaves Browne competing for the role as the more advanced of the central midfielders - a role he's not particularly suited to.
He was too busy to do the Luton game but he will be doing the Oxford game. It’s not his day job and I think he said it took about 15 hrs to put each one together. So two in a week is a bit much.
I subscribed and had a chat a few weeks back, asking him to post on here. Apparently he’d already tried but couldn’t create an account. I told him to contact me to sort it out but he hasn’t yet … … if anyone else subscribes could they mention it, he should be encouraged imo.
Without trying to sound thick, how do you subscribe? Love the stuff he does, but I've only seen it as a link on here.
Go on a video like this and he'll tell you when the icon comes up. Click on it and you'll see the options.
I think the club are on a bit of a PR mission with Dan at the minute. They wont be blind to the noisy minority who have jumped on him this season on social media. I read the way Regis spoke about him after the game at the weekend. That he has asked him to play differently, and in different positions, and that he learns quickly. He was really full of praise. Add that to his responsibility as captain now and so far this season he has adapted to a lot of new things. Then there was the piece Dan did about how he felt after the penalty at Watford and how he worked to put that part of his game right. Next is the piece on his meeting with Henderson a couple of years ago. Seems a lot of positive attention coming his way. Watching that clip shows his talent and his ability. It also shows how good his decisions are. He makes mistakes, like every other player does, but he gets the vast majority of things right and they far outweigh the mistakes. Imagine how proud he must be. A Sunderland boy, supporter, captaining his hometown club at 22. He has captained us to out best start to a league campaign in god knows how long. He is captaining a side top of the league. He is captaining a side who Regis openly states he wants to solve their own problems on the pitch. He is playing a major part in our success this season. A really good footballer who represents our club tremendously well. I am just enjoying him while he is here. A treat to watch and he cares as much as any of us do.
That's a bit unfair tbh. Voicing genuine concerns about where someone is being played, whether they're a suitable captain or wondering why they're making poor decisions isn't necessarily 'jumping on a player'. Neil was great against Oxford but they weren't the most fierce of opponents ... ... he made three bad errors while under pressure at Luton who were. It doesn't mean I want him dropped, flogged or flogged.
Top of the league, mags got beat so no Dawnie or Micky Bridges and we're the 3rd team on Look Newcastle!
