You can't win a league by November but you can certainly lose one.

A draw was okay on Saturday.

I'm sure there is more exciting news elsewhere, but this is the best that a combination of 3 ai's managed to come up with.

I'll give Matt his due, this making **** up on a daily basis, is a lot harder than you would think :emoticon-0148-yes:

The recent Bristol City vs Leeds United game on October 26th, 2024, (NB Date edited after Wakey pointing out the obvious error :) ) ended in a goalless draw.

    Key Points:

    • Defensive Stalemate: Both teams displayed strong defensive performances, preventing clear-cut scoring opportunities.
    • Leeds Dominance: Leeds United dominated possession and created more chances, but were unable to break down Bristol City's resolute defense.
    • O'Leary's Heroics: Bristol City goalkeeper Max O'Leary played a crucial role in the draw, making several impressive saves to deny Leeds.
    • Missed Opportunities: Leeds United missed a few good chances to score, particularly in the second half.
    • Unbeaten Run: The draw extended Bristol City's unbeaten run to seven games.
Overall, the game was a tactical battle with both teams fighting hard for a positive result. While Leeds United were disappointed not to secure a win, Bristol City will be pleased with their defensive performance and the point gained.

Leeds United's recent form has kept them competitive in the Championship, although the team has had mixed results lately. Their recent goalless draw against Bristol City maintained their unbeaten run but revealed a pressing need to convert scoring opportunities, something Daniel Farke has emphasized as crucial for a promotion push. Despite strong performances, goalkeeper Illan Meslier faced criticism earlier in October for a costly error in a 2-2 draw against Sunderland, which allowed the opposition to score a last-minute equalizer. This misstep has highlighted some consistency challenges as Leeds aims to solidify their defense

Another development involves Leeds forward Joe Gelhardt, who has struggled to find playing time amid strong competition from established strikers like Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford. Former player Jon Newsome recently suggested Gelhardt might need a loan move in January to gain more first-team minutes, potentially accelerating his development and keeping him in Leeds' future plans

All very fine saying away draws will do but they also mean we’re losing ground. We’re five off the pace and we know from last season no point in depending on teams around us dropping points. We need to set the pace

Yes they did a Bamford and extended his contract by another year to 2026.Perhaps they were advised by Victor.

For me, this game demonstrated ( more than most others) how dependent we’ve become on our left flank threat. Certainly since DF took over we seem to be more a threat down the left, even when free space is available to the FB/WB on t’side. Not sure whether the stats corroborates that.

As woeful as Firpo is imo defensively, I think most would agree, at this level, he’s an asset going forward. Add to that Ramrazani also now seems comfortable working the left hand side, to good effect, think we missed both creatively on Saturday. It was a very difficult watch, with some of the passing/link up play in the final 3rd, poor. Add to that our piss poor finishing, and I suppose a point was a reasonable result. Think some of the other top 6 contenders, will come away from there, with a more positive result, but on Saturday’s performance it’s all we deserved.

Still think we’ll be ok once we get more numbers back December onwards.

Nothing Wakey, that's what happens when you trust AI, given that we didnt draw with Bristol City 0-0 anytime last season ;)

It also proves that like I remind Ell on occasion that I should proof check articles that I have not written myself :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Thus I have now edited the error and given you the credit for spotting it :)

The result was ok, the performance was a bit laboured, however maybe we also have to give credit to Bristol City for both pressing well, and also being well organised when we had the ball in their half. I would have said in the game against Sheff Utd, we seemed to move the ball a bit quicker especially when switching from one wing to the other, where as Saturdays game was a bit more pedestrian, allowing Bristol to adjust to the position of the ball without too much disruption.

However we had more than enough chances to have won the game.

I know some are not a fan of stats, but we are actually 5 points behind where the stats say we should be, having dropped 2 points against Portsmouth and 1 point against Burnley as well as the 2 points dropped on Saturday. Every other game the results as been in accordance with the stats, even with the way the Sunderland game ended. We have scored 19 goals when stats suggest we should have 20, and we have conceded 8 goals, exactly as stats suggest we should have conceded so far.

The problem is however that other teams are getting results better than what stats say they should have. Whether this is due to having luck on their side, both in scoring and conceding goals, or they are prepared to take riskier chances that are coming off, who knows, all we can hope for with them is that this evens itself out before they are able to gain too much momentum.

Maybe it's a case that we will never be too far away in the results v stats scenario, as we are too perfunctory.

Obviously at the end of the day, actual results tell the truer picture, stats just tell you if you are performing better or worse than expected.

The WBA, Coventry and Cardiff games even themselves out. The Portsmouth game is the only one where we actually conceded more goals that we should have. Whilst we also scored more goals that stats expected us to score in the Sheff Wed, Hull and Sheff Utd games, those additional goals didn't change the result (other than obviously to ease any tension in the ground with having a 2 goal lead), but the failure to score in both the Burnley and Bristol City games has cost us 4 points.

Draws kill you and stagnates a push up the table. Both us and Burnley have lost one game less than Sunderland but trail them by five points as they’ve actually won three more matches.

Fine work Aski. For all people roll there eyes at xg (and it has it's limitations), I find it does generally give you an indication of how sides are actually performing. I've watched Boro a few times this season, they create and miss chances and keep finding innovative ways of messing things up. They remind me of us. Norwich scored two worldies and a fluke against them to get a 3-3 draw. In part they lack a consistent goalscorer (we know that feeling too) so that issue may remain, but If it doesn't effect their confidence and the performances stay as they are, they will be top 6.

I will stick my neck out here and say even though the good start Sunderland won't be in the top 4 come end of season. Been lucky in all games Ive seen may of played much better in the others but from the 3 Ive seen we gifted them a point. Luton deserved at least a point if not 3. Hull deserved a point. end of day they took their chances and carried their luck but it will turn also don't think their squad is big enough of talent when injuries and suspension kick in. Its very early days yet xmas time is the time to look at the table.

This sounds exactly the same thing that was being said of Ipswich last season and we all know how that turned out.
